I had the dealer activate DRLs upon delivery. To my surprise, in addition to turning on the headlights, it also illuminates the fog lights, tail lights and license plate lights. Most DRL configurations only activate the headlights, not all of the other running lights. However, when I had my local dealer (not the selling dealer) check this with PIWIS, the tech did not see any options other than what had been set. Still, this seems odd to me. So, Canadians, and others with DRL, do your cars have all of the lights on all of the time or only the headlights? Andy

that is really awkward... i'm from calgary, alberta, canada and when i start my car, only my headlights come on. its funny how members on there are enabling drl's while i am trying to de-activate mine

I think that when a US dealer activates the DRLs on a US car, the computer just turns on the full lights when the ignition is set to on. A little bit different than the majority of the "normal DRL" systems in Canada, which runs the high beam bulb at a reduced voltage (and thus reduced intensity)

Not entirely true. If the car has HIDs, then the bulb is always on. If the car has Halogens, then the DRLs can run by quickly switching on and off the power to the high beams to get the dimmed look. It has nothing to do with reducing voltage.

Mine is a US car brought into Canada.....ALL lights are activated with DRL. As far as I can tell, ALL new Porsches are like that....as well as several other makes, ie Saab, Volvo. I had the same thought you had at first, but my neighbour's Boxster, bought in Canada a few years ago, also has all lights running.

I still think the dealer can adjust it to whatever you want in the DRL. Mine is a Canadian Car but the DRL was turned off by the dealer upon my request.

I own a 2007 Boxster which i bought locally and when the car is started, only the headlights are on at reduced power. Which Porsche dealer did you buy your car from? My dealer will not disable my drls telling me that it is a Canadian road safety law.
