Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just changed the H7 bulb with some Philips Extremes (won a group test, by a magazine in England) According to the manual, the H7 are the dipped main beam lights.

Suggestion

Is this correct, as the manual says that the H7 bulb is the dipped headlight, which I would have thought is the light that would be operated by the twist dial and used for general driving in traffic.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi I just changed the H7 bulb with some Philips Extremes (won a group test, by a magazine in England) According to the manual, the H7 are the dipped main beam lights. Testing the lights after installation this is what happens below. As you look at the headlight front on, the upper bulb is the (H9) is activated by the twist dial in the cabin. The bulb below in the headlight unit is the (H7 and the one I replaced) activated by the pushing the indicator stalk away from you (full beam). Is this correct, as the manual says that the H7 bulb is the dipped headlight, which I would have thought is the light that would be operated by the twist dial and used for general driving in traffic. Could someone please correct the above if wrong. Thanks Ben
