Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

(The problem is the hub is pressed on after the dust shield is installed so it cant be retro fitted)

I checked before, but didn't see anything different, now I look closer, I see a extra cutout and a lip on the inside ring....these can be removed very easy.
Leading evidence: 'hub is pressed' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'hub is pressed' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check before' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2003 Gen2 996, and there seems to be 2 types of dust cover for the front disc's.
I'm doing the wheel bearing now and covers need to go on next.
There seems to be a delay from the factory so I cant press on without the part, and if I have to self isolate, I might work on the car.

Really wanting to know what the difference is, and then If I can source either one locally, so I can "press on" if forced to be at home.
Grateful for any advice,
Nelson
Thanks,

Looking at the part numbers they are just a update on the original, .04 and .05 being the 4th and 5th update to them but either will usually fit unless it is a big update. Often you can't even see what the update has been.
These arent updated numbers, they are stand alone, but as you have spotted, there is a cutout on one, the other is complete, they are only soft alu plate so Im sure you could get them to fit on!!
:saw:
With the part ordered....All the dealers are now closed (COVID19)
Anybody in the UK, got one that they could sell me?
I cant install the hub, until I have this part, and have all the other parts to finish. While furloughed, I have time and I could get it running again.
Have you tried the online retailers, there seems to be a delay in postage at the moment by around a week with everyone ordering everything online. I'm still waiting for things to arrive so I can crack on with various jobs.

I'm unsure which of the two you need so I have linked to both

Thanks InfraSilver,
I had ordered the correct item from Porsche WV, and they Covid, closed the next day before I could collect.
Then decided to pay more and get it from Design911, they haven't replied back, so guess they cant get the part either.
Sub-frame going in tomorrow, and will build up what I can from there.
(With that part, I figured I could have it rolling tomorrow too)
(The problem is the hub is pressed on after the dust shield is installed so it cant be retro fitted)
I had issues with mine recently as they got all bent out of shape as the whole hub assembly was off at an engineers having the pinch bolts drilled out.
I didn't want to get the hubs pressed out to replace them so I cut the top quarter out so I could remove and refit them with the hub still in place. The top front quarter isn't shielding anything anyway.
Probably lost .002g off each front corner so it'll be faster now as well
FYI,
Guys, I got the "older" and cheaper part....in the hope it would fit correctly.
I got the cheaper part 996.351.082.02 for £7 less than the correct part.
After looking over them, their was an additional lip, spot welded on only?
So I slid a screwdriver between them to break them apart and I did it easy, to reveal the part number I wanted and would have had to pay more for if it was available.
A crazy world we live in!
