Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Used a drill wire brush to clean up the surface on the end of the CV, applied a tiny smear of grease and gently tapped it on using a drift.
Leading evidence: 'Use drill wire brush' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use drift' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sadly, it didn't solve the problem with the ABS interfering now and then during "normal" braking as well as the PSM kicking in for no apparent reason.
I heated it up with a crappy butane blow torch so it probably didn't give too much expansion. Used a drill wire brush to clean up the surface on the end of the CV, applied a tiny smear of grease and gently tapped it on using a drift.
It was an easy job. Took about 10 minutes including removing the old one which in my case was just badly corroded rather than split.
Thanks again! The ABS/PSM started to act up just before I put the car away last year. No lights, just interferrence when braking or turning. I haven't had the chance to hook up any diagnostics equipment yet, but did a visual inspection of the front reluctor rings. Although they appear be intact, they also look badly corroded - hence the suspicion. I guess it is enough to affect the system if one of the "teeth" are chipped or broken?
It's a simple system reading a binary signal from the ring 1010101010 based on the highs and lows on the ring. If the wheel locks up it reads a constant 1 or 0 so it knows it's locked which activates the system.
If the ring is corroded or split the gaps aren't even which means you get the system pulsing as it will read something like 10101001010100 where the split causes a larger gap or the corrosion forms a wider high point.
I guess the system is quite prone to failure as the reluctor rings do get a fair bit of elemental exposure. Apparently, no shops in Norway are able to provide rings without a complete driveshaft, so I'll follow in your footsteps and order from reluctorrings.com. I pray I'll have the parcel before winter
I replaced one of the reluctor rings last night, as the old one was indeed cracked. Sadly, it didn't solve the problem with the ABS interfering now and then during "normal" braking as well as the PSM kicking in for no apparent reason. I know the other ring is just as badly corroded as the one I just removed, but I'm hard pressed to believe both rings failed simultaneously.
Maybe I'll just go ahead and replace the other ring as well since I ordered two of them.
That is quite a bit cheaper than the ones I got from reluctorrings.com. £70 + shipping and taxes is still pretty far away from an estimated £1000ish or more for new drive shafts from Porsche
Added to my Watch list
Tonight I'll try and measure the resistance of the ABS-sensors on the rear axle, as well as to do a visual inspection of the reluctor rings.
The rear rings are cheap and easy to get as they are common to other cars (Mercedes for one).
The correct C4 front rings I could only find on the link I posted earlier. Some places on eBay do list the C4 front rings but they are rear rings wrongly listed.
Yes, I've noticed that the rear rings seem to be easier to get a hold of. I did get the front rings from the link you posted, they were a perfect match.
Alex: Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!
