I run 10mm spacers at the rear to make them sit nicely and to clear my enlarged pipwork and fenderwells.

I use OZ wheels in both 18" & 19" depending on the tyre I need; both sizes will fit over 380mm discs.

check the off sets on your turbo wheels as they will probably be different.

I haven't even got my car yet, already thinking of changing the wheels from the standard Twist wheels.

I believe I am right in saying you run 19" fronts and rears on your to incorporate the 380mm Alcon front brakes - OZ wheels ???
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I like the 997 19" GT3 wheels. Please can anyone confirm if they will fit without any issue ?
Many thanks
GT3 is a narrow body on the 997 still so you might need some spacers.
check the off sets on your turbo wheels as they will probably be different.
i think they are 11 inch wide at the rear too on the GT3.
GT3RS WHEELS = 19 x 12 ET51 at the rear and 19 x 8.5 ET53 = fit a 996 turbo no problems. I run 10mm spacers at the rear to make them sit nicely and to clear my enlarged pipwork and fenderwells. No spacers at the front. Run 305 section tyres
the narrow body rears will be ET67 and i have no experience with them
Nick is correct. As I said above above the GT3 wheels will be ET67
You want GT3RS for a trouble free fitment as you dont really want to run really large spacers, 10mm would be the max i would use on a turbo
However just for your reference and thoughts....have you thought of other options not OEM ? OZ for example, lighter than OEM ?? just a suggestion and good for unsprung weight!
Another thought of the day. Fact. The WSP alloys are near as identical (with only one difference) to OEM and made on the same production line as the OEM version. The only way to distingush between the two is the width and ET numbers being stamped either side of the valve hole on the OEM but not present on the WSP version
Thanks guys, I didn't realise there were 2 types of GT3 wheel
These are what I saw on the bay, looks like these are the ones requiring huge spacers on the rear to fit by 996TT ?

Just to throw my tuppence worth in, my 996 turbo S came supplied with 996 GT3 style wheels from new instead of the turbo S standard wheels. It's shown on the original Porsche invoice just incase anyone would like to doubt this. Have a look at my user image to the left. So they are around but haven't seen any available recently. They do look good on the wide body but as always not everyone's choice.
They're the wheels that were fitted to the second batch of the 996 GT2 as standard (it also got a bit of a power tweak istr). You used to be able to order them from Porsche years ago but the supply dried up in the end.
Hi Nick/ Guys
Just re reading your post. Are you saying that the 997 GT3 RS wheels will NOT therefore fit the 996 Turbo ?
If not saying that, then are you able to share what the correct size and ET of wheel should be to work fine?
WSP Italy make copies, so they might be an option. Any one know about them ? Quality, where they make the wheels to EU standards ?
FRP has given you the correct offsets for the 996 Turbo. I was just chiming in with information on the fitting of standard 997.1 GT3 rear wheels (ET67) to the 996 GT3 (they fit). The RS versions are for a widebody car which is why they will fit the Turbo.
Ok thanks FRP. I think I will get the WSP versions. Do they provide the wheels in the size you gave or should I get any further optimised ET for more flush fitting ? Thanks for your advice guys.
Steve
Nick, do the 997 GT3 fronts also fit the 996 GT3 or do you need spacers on the front to enable full lock? I believe I am right in saying you run 19" fronts and rears on your to incorporate the 380mm Alcon front brakes - OZ wheels ???
Pip
Hi Pip
Yes, the GT3 fronts fit on the 996. They sit slightly more inboard than standard but it's not by much. Spacers don't help full lock because the tyre will make contact with the arch liner if you space them. I have RSR inner arm collars to limit the amount of lock (think Cup car levels of lock! - it's about 2 turns lock to lock) and that does the trick.
I use OZ wheels in both 18" & 19" depending on the tyre I need; both sizes will fit over 380mm discs.
