Suspected cause

Perhaps it was the mounting bracket for the speaker (I'm guessing it's molded in) that was the problem, broken maybe.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Not really an electronics issue. My right door speaker was buzzing on heavy bass. So I took it in to be fixed figuring they'd put in some foam or worst case, a new speaker. Much to my surprise, they replaced the whole door panel. Said the speaker was not a replaceable part. This was a new one on me. Anyone else have this kind of experience. Just curious. Not complaining.

POST 2Original post

I think your dealer either wanted to make a larger warranty claim or messed up your door panel somehow the Cayman workshop manual has specific sections on the replacement of any and every specific speaker in the car.

POST 3Original post

Well they definitely didn't mess up the panel because they had to order it and I had the car back for a while. Perhaps it was the mounting bracket for the speaker (I'm guessing it's molded in) that was the problem, broken maybe. Regardless, it's fixed, the panel matches, and no buzz.

POST 4Original post

hmmm... my right door speaker buzzes on heavy bass too! i never thought about taking it in to have it checked out. it's not as annoying as the other cabin noise, which i suspect is coming from the rear hatch plastic rubber plug thing.

POST 5Original post

I've heard the speaker 'buzz' from only one song and it definitely came from the right side door. And it occured throughout the song so I know I wasn't hearing things or it was some other noise. I've debated having the dealer check it out but since I really don't like that song, I haven't bothered. -Moto
