Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Some tips can change the note of the exhaust, but I think that is down to the length and width of the pipe, a standard 996 tip should sound similar to each other?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi folks. I have twin tips on mine and want to go to oval. I'm not keen on the smaller standard "slightly" oval tips. I was after some larger flatter oval ones. I've seen many different types. There is a slightly flattened at one side oval that has been on Dansk exhaust. I like the look of that but says Carrera 4!!! Are they all the same fitting? Do Carrera 4s ones also fit a c2 or will they foul the bumper? Any advice would be great thanks.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Also some of the tips look like they might silence a bit. They have a silencer'esque slotted piece in the end for lack of s better word.

POST 3Original post

C2 and C4 tips should be all the same. Some tips can change the note of the exhaust, but I think that is down to the length and width of the pipe, a standard 996 tip should sound similar to each other? When I first got my 944 the original was corroded so I bought a similar looking tip but the sound wasn't very nice, sounded kind of raspy. I have since had a better quality tip made up and the note is so much better, sounds like a V8 burble on tickover now.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply. My car is horrible and raspy at idle or lower down the rev range. Very harsh. I'm hoping the oval tips might alter it a bit. I'm sure it's down to my tips!!
