Hello all.
I have a CD stuck in the player.
I received the CD Stop message (which a search here reveals to be a rather common issue) and attempted to eject the CD. It seemed to move a little but than stopped.
The CD may be a bit thicker than normal (dual sided and the flip side is DVD audio) but it has previously gone in and ejected fine. Is anyone aware of an easy do-it-yourself fix to get it out? A search of the posts here was a bit of the long route as the search engine does not like the two character string "cd" and "stuck compact disc" had no hits.
Thanks much.

PCM and thicker disks are a big issue; strangely not too common on this board but you'll hear of it commonly on ********. It's easy to solve by taking it into the dealer and having them replace the unit; but when it happened to my dad's Cayenne the closest dealer is an hour away; with advice from a thread on ********, I picked a dental toolkit available at home depot. Using the pick in conjunction with the eject button makes quick work of the problem.
Dental Tool Set 4 Piece - Part #: DD300
The fate of your disk will not be very good though... so before you do it, try ejecting several times; try restarting the car by holding the eject button, etc.

That happened with my
Boxster S
several years ago. I took out the radio fuse and put it back in. The CD player worked after that. I haven't had a CD stick in the
Cayman
but the radio is on NPR most of the time so what do I know.
Thanks. for the replies
Two hours to my dealer . . . so after a couple of restarts I'll try prying it out.
I did the same thing when my CD player was inactive - didn't cure the problem overall but I got my CD back! My theory is when you pull the fuse, even the emergency lights the gremlins use go out. Then they have to search for matches, lighters, etc and during that time let the disc go. Then you put the fuse back in and they're too busy celebrating to remember what is was they were trying to screw up in the first place. Eventually they remember their main calling in life and go on to screw something else up not directly associated with the first screw up. Just a theory mind you.
