Suggestion
If it's still slow to turn over/start after you've replaced the battery then you should first check the Earth cable for condition/contact at the front right of the engine in the wheel well, then pull the starter motor and disassemble/clean out the carbon powder from the brushes which gets all around inside it and makes the motor 'lazy'.
Leading evidence: 'Install battery' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check earth cable' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I am comfortable with Yuasa as a make as they are used extensively on bikes.

i tend to recommend Bosch but that's only because its what we fit at work and i know they rarely fail under warranty .

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I went to start the car tonight and no go; starter motor clicks but doesn't turn over.
Everything seems normal with unlocking, all dash lights on as normal, however voltage meter just over 10V.
There were no lights left on so looks like the battery isn't holding its charge. I've never changed the battery in all the time I've owned it.
I last drove it 4 days ago but thought its turnover was a bit sluggish.
So, looks like it's new battery time.
The current battery is a Banner 58014 with 660CCA and 80Ah, the replacement I am considering is a Yuasa HSB110 from Halfords with 800CCA and 85Ah; its available for collection tomorrow for £117 and comes with 5yrs guarantee.

85 ah is the standard Porsche size with 800CCA being fine.
Nothing wrong with the make either .. i tend to recommend Bosch but that's only because its what we fit at work and i know they rarely fail under warranty .
If the battery was fully charged then i would say its the starter motor at fault .
You can also have a battery drain if a battery constantly drops its charge .
Thanks demort.
I am comfortable with Yuasa as a make as they are used extensively on bikes.
Regards the starter motor, are there any checks I can do?
The car has never played up electrically in all the time I've owned it and it has spent extended periods on a trickle charger previously with the same battery without issue.
Cheers in advance.
Graeme
Difficult to prove a faulty starter if the battery is down on charge it would tend to be the battery needing more power ..
If the battery was fully charged and you get a click from the starter solenoid then its the starter .
Basically you have a fault with the battery so correct that first .. if the battery is say 5 years old then even if that's not the fault ( which i doubt ) then it's still money well spent .
The click you hear is the solenoid on the starter activating but either a bad internal contact or just not enough charge to spin the engine over .
Or just buy a new starter for about £150 on EBay. Finally, you should consider replacing the Y-lead which connects the alternator and starter to the positive supply. It deteriorated over time under the insulation and is a moderately common cause of sluggish starting.
FIXED

Fitted new battery which was a bit of a fiddle. Stood on the rims of the spare tyre which helped a lot.
Followed the sequence of removal and fitting to the letter.
Got in the car voltmeter showed zero, key in ignition straight to just over 12V with all dash lights good.
It fired up sweet as anything; noticeably faster crank thank before.
Sitting idling at just around 14V so look like charging system is fine.
In my books this is a problem solved.
My Ctek charger is being sent down by my father this week.
Thanks to all for your help
