I just got my Tooki, but there are surprisingly no installation instructions. After installing the Dension, seems pretty straight forward. Only question is power. Continuous or switched? Also, the power cable supplied is designed to plug in line with some other harness in the Cayman. I can't find a similar connector though. Anyone know?
I was led to believe that it piggybacks the power connector that goes into the back of PCM. (I will let you know tomorrow when my Tooki arrives).
Install was a snap. I didn't want to get to the head unit, so just tapped into the same power source as Dension. Once you get the idea of the MOST ring architecture during the Dension install, the Tooki slips right into the ring between the Dension and the Nav. Haven't tried phone sound quality, but pairing and phone book transfer were smooth with my Verizon Blackberry 8830. Placed the microphone to left of map lights. Looks fine.
I've not installed the Denison, but just now reviewed the article. Is the install of the Tooki essentially the same? That is, can I follow the Denison instructions but "substitute" the Tooki instead, as appropriate? The various connectors shown in the Dension article are different form what's in the Tooki.
I did speak with a tech support guy at Nav-TV and he said the unit was installed under the passenger seat. I checked under the passenger seat and there's nothing there. Perhaps he thought I said "Cayenne" instead of "Cayman".
You could install it under the seat if you had the Porsche phone system installed in the car, this would have to be disconnected.
I put mine in using the connectors provided. I pulled the PCM and changed over the fiber optic cables. The unit itself I have tucked behind the A/C control panel there is room there.
Thanks, Smounic, Nick_USA. I'll give it go.
I just finished my install. Here's an article on it.

So you found the information I sent to your useful then?
Glad you figured it out anyhow.
Mic Location
I'd just like to share the following for those wishing to hide the microphone or like myself have a Cab and placing the Mic near the rear view mirror seems way too silly for roof down phone calls.
The Mic can be fitted where Porsche put the stock Mic for there phone system.
To fit the Mic into the steering wheel cover:
1. Extend the steering column for better access to the top cover (The other benefit of doing the wiring with the column extended is you wont break the wire when you extend the column at any stage after this as there is some slack in the cable).
2. Remove the two Torx-10 screws from the lower cover which hold the top in place.
3. Tilt the top cover up, you will notice that it is attached to the instrument cluster. (You don't need to remove the cover to fit the Mic).
4. Route the Mic cable through the opening to the Tooki unit, plug in, and take up the spare cable (Tie back spare if necessary with tape)
5. Using the sticky pad attach the Mic to the top cover so that the Mic sits just forward of the open grill (towards the front of the car, not the other way round) .
6. Replace the top cover (it does fit) ... STOP... before you screw everything back down do a test of the Mic.
7. Assuming all is good, screw down the top cover
8. Adjust the steering column.
The quality of the Mic pickup may not be as good as having the Mic near the roof and mirror with the top up. However, as the Mic is out of the wind flow, when the roof is down it is way better.
New firmware for the Tooki is out (2008-02-28). Mainly fixes some phonebook syncronisation issues.
But not mine, nor the interantional character set
