Hey.
Here is a list of the parts needed to retrofit navigation to my 2006 Cayman S, to which I have already installed a PCM which I bought off of Ebay. I was going to do this about a year ago and ended up not doing it for various reasons but I have just bought a Nav drive and North American DVD off Ebay so I decided to go for it. Heres the problem........
So the list of wave guides has four options, normally I would have ordered a Bose, no changer guide and that would be it BUT! I have had an aftermarket ipod interface installed. Its a NavTV unit. Heres the question......Does that change the wave guide that I need from a Bose, no changer to Bose, changer??? If not, why not? How does the Nav TV interface with the PCM? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
You need one of the following waveguides (MOST optical cable harness) depending on your situation:
997.622.710.00 (Bose, no changer): $99.87
997.622.713.00 (Bose, changer): $116.55
997.622.707.00 (no changer, no Bose): $99.87
997.622.715.00 (changer, no Bose): $99.87
You need the following parts, some could be replaced generically (nuts, screws, tie wraps).
997.642.105.00 - GPS Antenna - $71.48
999.507.441.02 - Speed Nut (price unlisted)
999.073.210.00 - Tapping Screw - $0.21
997.642.231.00 - Nav. unit retaining frame $19.05
997.642.257.03 - Navigation Disk - $547.34
997.612.331.00 - Wire harness (electrical/antenna) - $33.74
999.513.051.40 - tie wraps - $0.54
electrical tape\adhesive compound.
Thanks.
Gavin.
P.S I was trawling through Ebay and I saw the DVD drive + DVD and bought it. I also got from the same guy a PCM which I bought for my brother cos 'He said' he wanted one. Seemingly he said at a later stage that he was no longer pushed about it, but he never said it to me so if anybody needs a PCM, PM me. Its part number # 997.642.143.03.
The NAVTV unit will assume nothing. It's connectivity, if the Tooki unit is similar to which I have just installed is as follows:
1. It will behave as the Porsche unit, in your case a CD Changer.
2. It will come with a fibre optic cable. (You disassemble one of your existing connectors, there is an 'IN' and 'OUT', what was the in goes to the new unit. The 'OUT' from this unit (the provided fiber) goes to the 'IN' of the disassembled connector.
You can go with the 997.622.715.00 (changer, no Bose) if you prefer a stock cable (dumping the NAVTV cable). Howver, you can use 997.622.707.00 (no changer, no Bose) using the NAVTV method above.
** A question for you what version of the Nav disc have you just purchased and if you press 'MAIN' and 'TRIP' and select 'System' what sofware version does it say you have in your PCM ** (Your PCM and perhaps your Nav unit may need a firmware flash) **
Sorry, I'm dim so if you could explain a little of this in layman's terms I'd be grateful.
The NAVTV unit will assume nothing. Whats this mean????
As for being able to go with either of the wave guides, which is the easiest for me to install? Which is closest to K-mans installation article? Any recommendations would be great, you see I was trying to avoid at all cost having to make decision that will come back to haunt me at a later stage
I want blacks and whites, not grays!

gmorat,
Sorry for the late response to your PM with this question, I was on vacation this week... If the navtv is already installed using the method above that Nick described, use the no changer, Bose. If you order the Changer + Bose, you will essentially disconnect the navtv unit and reconnect using the OEM changer harness + nav drive harness.

Heres the picture of the back of my PCM. Any good?

I can't really tell; do you know where the navtv box is installed? Can you see or access it?
Honestly; I would just get the no-changer harness, that taps into the extra MOST connector in the front trunk; that is the easiest alternative and you don't have to mess with the nav-tv. This will work fine, unless they installed the navtv in the front trunk and used this connector already.

No, the NavTV is just behind the PCM in the depth's of the dash. Nothing is installed in the front trunk. So Bose, no changer will be good then? Where will I have to deviate from K-mans instructions?
'
Bose, no changer is good and you will not at all have to deviate from K-man S's instructions. You can however choose to use the harness they send you to get MOST connection at the BOSE amplifier with the harness you are getting, K-man S got his from the other MOST connection in the front trunk because he did not have the Bose amplifier.

Sorry, bad photo of the NavTV in the space behind the PCM. Impossible to take a decent picture of it.
