I can't imagine how that would sound in a downtown setting with the sound bouncing off of buildings.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Let me first apologize for the poor video quality of the video's, I lost the USB cable for my camcorder. I had to use my digital camera instead. If you ever wondered what it would be like to put Fabspeed By-pass mufflers on your P-car, just watch the videos I have provided.
The sound is as close as I can come to the real thing. It is as close to being there as one can be. I have provided a high speed pass, and casual drive by in my video. I have also provided an in-car sound clip for you as well.
If you do not like the aggressive sound of these by-pass's, go trade your P-car in on a Miata. Get a refund on all your beer you have purchased, and get a case of Zima or apple martini's. I would also recommend that you trade your T-shirts in on those "fancy" sweaters that you can tie around your neck.
If you like like an aggressive sounding sports car, spend the $550 for the by-pass's. You will be glad you did. They sound FANTASTIC! Best $550 I have spent in a while(except for that night at the strip-club). The instalation was a joke. Took about one hour from start to finish.
As far as the lose of low end torque, I can't tell a difference. If I were a race-car driver, perhaps. As far as an "Average Joe" I could care less about the 3 horse power lose on low end torque. They sound like a damn cup-car; just as Fabspeed claims. I know that I have a passenger-side marker light out aswell. Enjoy...

I have'm too--the video is pretty true to life but its louder!!! LOL
It real is NICE (BORAT).
There is a little low end loss but who drives at 2500 rpms anyway
Mike
Thanks for posting the vids. It seems as if you can't really heard a sound difference if you are cruising (which is good). The exhaust seems like it would be something that would be perfect for landscape/surroundings that has a lot of foliage - something to absorb all the noise. I can't imagine how that would sound in a downtown setting with the sound bouncing off of buildings. Definitely makes the car sound mean though. Nice mod.
Ahhh, no. It is dramatically louder than something like the GHL Loud when cruising. The video sound quality is definitely leaving a little something out.
Since we are on the topic, does the bypass pipes sound different than just taking off the mufflers? Because I took my mufflers off once to see what it sounded like before I made my own and I thought it sounded like an old tractor at idle. Not to mention it was embarassingly loud, and I have owned obnoxiously loud cars in my day.
At just cruising speed, it sounds like it did with the mufflers on. When you push the accelerator, it sounds very deep and throaty. I guess the tips do have some effect. I have ridden in old trucks and cars with no mufflers at all, and they would rattle your fillings loose. These don't.
They just deepen the sound you all ready have on your car. It is not all that loud just VERY deep not "poppy" like a Honda. I would never take these by-pass's off no matter what anyone thought of them. I LOVE them! They make my Pcar sound like it should. IMO. At idle, it sounds like I installed a bigger cam. You can actually hear it idle now. Before it idled like a Buick.
The video on Fabspeed's site don't even come close to the real sound. My video is closer to the real sound. Video, however, will never replace being there to hear them. Just as I said, "If you would rather drink a Zima than a beer, don't get them." "If you wear those sweaters tied around your neck, don't get them."
If you are driving through a tunnel or have buildings on both sides, they are very loud. The mufflers are loud as well, in these conditions. Drove her all weekend with only good responses. Lot's of thumbs-up's. They will draw more attention to your Pcar than the factory mufflers. Guaranteed!
Not only does she look great, but most people would speed up just to get a better look and hear the pipes. I had the windows cracked about 2 inches in the in-car video. When they are up, it is not as loud inside the vehicle. The video is horrible, but the audio is very true to the real sound.
Marker light is fixed now...LOL
Going out on a limb here but honestly imho they sound like crap.
I had these on my car for all of 15 minutes before I yanked them and put the Fabspeed exhaust back on (permanently). I really can't see why someone would drive around in an "exhaustless" late model porsche unless it was a dedicated track car. When I had them on and drove down my street gently, just about every other house had someone peeking out to see who the idiot was driving down the street in the car with no exhaust rattling their windows. Also you can forget about having any fun in the car without attracting police interest from miles away. This bypass thing is akin to having a stereo soo loud that every car around you can hear your music. A nicely designed stereo on the otherhand will provide wonderful sounding music "inside" the car just like any decent exhaust system will enhance the engine sound for the driver without unecessarily blasting everyone else.
Now if I were 17 again, maybe.
To each their own.
Flame suit on:
Welcome to the club....now go have fun driving by a police officer.
The technique I use is to gradully give it gas without goint to WOT or press the clutch in and roll by him while waving hello.
I suppose living in east Tn. they fit in just fine. My sister's in-laws are all on the Sheriff's Dept., they think they sound great. It is, however, a little loud for a modern European sports car. I considered this before installing them.
If I lived in a larger city such as New York, Chicago, Boston, L.A., etc; I would have to listen to them first hand before installing them. IMO they just "beef-up" what we all have. If I thought they sounded like a '67 Camaro, I would take them off.
They are just very deep sounding to me, I Love them. No flame suit required to view the videos. If I had a Lexus or Mercedes NO way! Any sports car IMO should sound as such. PORSCHE, Vette, Mustang, Ferrari, Lambo, Viper, Lotus, etc., should play their part in contributing to "Noise Pollution". The cops don't even flinch when a loud sounding car goes by them around here...
I had to use my still camera, lost my USB cable for cam. It tries to focus on everything. If you think these pipes sound loud, check these out!!! The videos are towards the middle of page. The Ferrari's sound like Indy cars(355 2.7).

Super props on the Valvetronics that is the most amazing F1 sounding exhaust systems ever. Pricey as all heck but OMFG. I'de saw screw the neighbors for that sound
Jugger, thanks for posting this, but I've got to say: that's the worst video I've ever seen. Was your friend drunk?
They're too loud for Boston, by the way.
I'm in the process of "making" a set of bypass pipes, but will use them just for track days for the hp gains. I personally think they sound like crap, too much like a muscle car instead of a European sports car. The Kreissieg has a nice sound for $7k. I personally like the Hephaiss a bit better (see the link below, the video is at the bottom of the page - it gives me goose bumps), but their budget system is $9k. It'd be nice to find this system with this pedigree sound at a more palatable price.

These systems are the greatest!! Flip a switch for going to the store, then flip it for the track. WOW! On both systems you gotta be kidding me this little switch cost's this much?! Awesome none the less. I have not seen the Hephaiss exhaust before, thanks.
No, he wasn't drunk(at this point in the day) yet. We had to use my little still camera for this. It is small and hard to hold steady with out tripod. The sound was the whole point...not the video quality. Getting my USB cable, just need to order it
