Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So to change the map the data has to be read, the new map is written to a new chip then the old chip needs to be de-soldered and the new one soldered in its place.
Leading evidence: 'Replace map the data has' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace map the data has' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The auto change on my current model E Class Estate with DTUK tuning box is as good as any sequential in sports mode...this is what I want to replicate...and suggestions please?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There's not much than can be done with these. The chip is write once and then read only. So to change the map the data has to be read, the new map is written to a new chip then the old chip needs to be de-soldered and the new one soldered in its place. Mines been played with a bit. The only noticeable change was to move the shift point so it now shifts up at a higher rpm. Rick at unicorn motor developments did the work.
You can really make it shift faster unfortunately.
There is an aftermarket ecu for the Mercedes box which allows you to more easily make changes. OK51MON on here did a right up on them maybe a year ago.
It's just an old traditional slush box. It will only shift so fast.
For track use you'll probably only need 2nd and 3rd mostly as the gears are so long.
If it's the same shift control as the auto in my C55 then it won't shift until you tell it to- you can run it into the limiter and it will stay in the gear you picked, so no mid corner/end of straight unwelcome and uncommanded shifts.
What would really help is a blip on the downshift though- it really thumps into a lower gear without any rev matching.
I have autoblip on my SIM racing eSports rig ..deadly!. I am putting a real unit from auto-blip.com into the 996 track car and doing the AMG Mercedes behind the wheel shift mod.

I wasn't aware of the auto-blip box, worth considering.
The auto in the 996 is very old tech in comparison to a current auto, the benefit of that is that it's hugely strong, the disadvantage is that it's fairly slow and lacks rev-matching. You might be able to do something about both of those things, maybe higher line pressure and an adaption of the auto-blip box?
