Hi guys, I'm finally into my first
Porsche
after a long
BMW
love affair. I must say I'm massively impressed so far/Mostly the chassis/handling/ride and just generally that mid-engined feel. Although I do like this Flat 6 also, coming from an S54 (
m3
) it's a very different unit. Surprisingly impressed with the car's practicality strange there is not more on the roads? I guess 2 seats is a deal-breaker for most! One thing I do begrudge is EVERYTHING is an option, My car does NOT have cruise control/heated seated/auto lights which to me should be standard on a S model let alone a
Porsche
! Spec as follows:
19 inch
Carrera
S II wheel
Wheel centre set[
Wind deflector
Windscreen with grey top tint
Fully automatic climate control
ParkAssist (parking aid rear)
Telephone module
BOSE
Surround Sound System
Introduction Car
Floor mats
Universal audio interface
Porsche
Communication Management (
PCM
3.0) including extended navigation module
Bi-Xenon lighting system with Dynamic cornering lights
Sports seats
Thicker three-spoke sports steering wheel in smooth leather
Porsche
crest embossed on head restraints
I really wanted upgraded headlights of some sorts and sports seats with crests! Everything else is a bonus for me. Whats "introduction car"? Ex-demo kinda thing? The car is kinda showy looking a guess OEM White Paint /Black 19's/Red callipers etc etc.
I only really drive my cars for fun at a weekend toy/road trips and "spirited" Driving. The car has 95k Miles currently.
Anyways only after covering just 200/300 miles I've already ordered/decided on some essential mods/maintenance (imo)
Full
Zunsport
Grill Set in Black
Guard Red Seat belts... (They were cheap!)
Gearbox oil change - Motul Gear 300 75W-90 Fully Synthetic Car Gearbox & Diff Oil
Differential Oil same as above
OEM Black
Boxster
Badge with red S (mine is damaged!)
Full Laser alignment/Geo Setup (any recommendations in SE England?)
New Discs and Pads on the car, doing a lot of reading on this seems conflicting information, Some people say is the way some cars feel (long bit of mushy pedal) some say their cars are fine/ Some say the
GT3
MC sorts ...some say BS! So I'm a bit stuck, My cars discs have fairly large lips all round and that's convinced they need changing. fluid looks new and was bleed out before I purchased. The Dealer I purchased from agreed to change the discs and pads all round for me as long as I pay for materials ( the car passed a MOT)
Brembos
? Pagid( heard there pants if not performance range) I've even heard bad things about
brembos
online! MTEC look nice but at £1000 for discs alone bit pricey.
Low temp thermostat,- This seems like a great mod as it does seem to get up to operating temperature hotter than any vehicle I've personally owned! .My car is a Gen 2 DFI Closed deck motor and I don't see many people doing the mod on these engines is it necessary/possible even?
But as above mostly maintenance/protection mods to the car. With LSD it could be a real weapon I feel but I want to hold out on any massive mods and just get some miles behind my belt in the thing possibly even a track day or 2!
Welcome. You picked a great first
Porsche
. I’m a yank living in the UK for a few years and brought mine with me. Let me know if I can be of any help. I’ve owned and tracked my
cayman
for years and have a fair bit of engineering experience.

Hi Shawn, I'm looking to possibly book something in at the track over the
next
couple weeks I'm surprised looking online that track days are still running. It's great to see you've been using the car as intended, I went for a spirited drive this past weekend with a few pals and still in awe at the chassis in this thing, Its drives fantastic.
In your experience whats a good option for brakes disc and pad replacement, I don't want tons of dust or squealing, to be honest, Just OEM power will do me for now, But I don't really want any warped or cracked discs after one trackday? Is there such a balance?
Also, is my choice of Diff and gear oil sufficient for these cars? Anything
Porsche
nuts go for more?
Any other maintenance/mods issues you'd recommend yourself with extensive track days under your belt?
