The only info I can find is that it has 'sports running gear' (though that's a bit vague) and a limited slip diff plus traction control.

As another point, a notice you are based in Yorkshire - can I ask who you use for servicing?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, new 911uk member and new 911 owner so please be gentle!
I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the details of the 'sport pack' on early 996 models? The only info I can find is that it has 'sports running gear' (though that's a bit vague) and a limited slip diff plus traction control. I'm basically wondering if there's anything else on the car, and if it has any servicing implications etc. Oh, and has anybody any idea what this extra would have cost from new?
Many thanks in advance for your responses!
Rich.
Not sure if I can shed much light on this but I had an 02 996 that I ordered with "sports suspension" which was lowered by something like 10mm and was stiffer than standard but I can't remember being able to order the LSD with it.
Sorry I can't help more
Many thanks for your reply. I think you might be right about the 10mm lower suspension and slightly stiffer - not sure if the 'pack' actually includes anything else, or if the LSD and traction control are seperate extras. I'll have to look at the option codes on the label under the bonnet and then put another post on here.
As another point, a notice you are based in Yorkshire - can I ask who you use for servicing? I'm based in Hull, and I think the only people within real travelling distance look like Strasse at Leeds or Malton Specialist cars (again this could be worth a new post I guess!).....
I'm pretty sure a sports pack doesn't exist, but plenty of "sport" type options were available as individual options. Things like sports seats, sports suspension, sports exhaust, engine power upgrade, short shift etc etc
Hi I've dug out an old 996 Price List. There were 3 levels of Sports Suspension:
030: -10mm, Stiffer Springs, Shock Absorbers, and Anti Roll Bar, recommended to have 18" Wheels
X73: -20mm, Springs Shocks, and Roll Bars
X74: -30mm, Springs, Shocks, and Roll Bars ONLY with 18" Wheels.
Note if you had 220 Mechanical Limiteds Slip Diff you got the -10mm Suspension and the 18" Whhels as part of the Package.
Regards Big Bob
Rich I've got the sports pack on mine (listed as "sports chassis" on the original invoice). I think its lowered springs (10mm) stiffer bushes (as detailed above) and the 40% LSD (forgive my ignorance if that sounds wrong).
Try searching for a post of mine that asked pretty much the same question and was answered by the knowledgable on here (that doesn't include me...
).
Editted to include URL (which doesn't detail LSD... :? )

Thanks Tim, that does sound about right. Wow, the article on that US sight is quite indepth to an almost anorak'ish level. What's more worrying is that I enjoyed reading it.
Thanks again everyone. At least now I know what I'm driving.....
