I have just bought a set of hollow-spokes for mine, and am having the tyres swapped over and fitted tomorrow, so I'll take a couple of photos in the next day or two to show the difference.

I'll check the new ones when I get home but they do have metal valves etc and I think they are smooth.

If you know a friendly tyre place, you could ask them to put them on the balancer and see if the rims run true.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone have the actual part numbers of TT hollow spoke wheels? I've just bought an extra set to try a different colour on but want to make sure they are actually hollow spokes - hopefully you can save me taking one of my original ones off to check Cheers.

POST 2Original post

You can tell just by looking at the rear of the spokes. If they are smooth, then they are hollow-spoke. If they have ridges, they are Turbo II Look. Also, if they have metal valve stems they are h/s an if they are rubber they are Turbo Look. You can feel if they are smooth or ridged with your fingers if they are on the car. You didn't by any chance buy them from a chap in Edinburgh on eBay, did you? If so, I believe one of them might be buckled.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope, chap in Bristol, although I was negotiating on the Edinburgh ones - glad he didn't accept my offer now! I'll check the new ones when I get home but they do have metal valves etc and I think they are smooth. What's the simplest way to check they are buckled before I get them refinished? Cheers :thumb:

POST 5Original post

The only way to know for sure is to mount them up and measure the run-out. If you know a friendly tyre place, you could ask them to put them on the balancer and see if the rims run true.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

based on the part numbers above both the new and old set are hollow spokes. many thanks.

POST 8Original post

Great post - logged on tonight to look for part numbers after my local OPC damaged a rear alloy whilst fitting some new Pilot Sports - hey presto this post was here with answers ready and waiting  . Thanks. Rich.

POST 9Original post

I think I've got Turbo II look wheels on my turbo - they have ridges down the underside centre of the spokes although have metal valves fitted. Is having Turbo II look fitted to a X50 turbo a problem? Thanks. Rich.

POST 10Original post

If they have metal valve stems then they are sure to be hollow spoke. I have just bought a set of hollow-spokes for mine, and am having the tyres swapped over and fitted tomorrow, so I'll take a couple of photos in the next day or two to show the difference.

POST 12Original post

Good post Richard H - very usefull comparison which confirms I have a set of each, and as you mention, the h/s wheels have the stainless valve stems. :thumb:

POST 13Original post

Great post Richard - I stand corrected, I do have hollow spoke wheels. The ridges I was feeling was the text on the back of each spoke as shown on your photo's. Thanks for the help ... :thumb: Rich.
