Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have a quote from Alpinair who are apparently very highly recommended (and the owner has a 930 Turbo) for £750 for 2 condensers and some pipes etc as I have a leak

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Test drove a lovely 996 cab c2 on the V plate, silver... serviced May this year, MOT - expires November (says he will do a new one if the deal is done). Great drive, no noise from anywhere, little corrosion on the split GT3 rim. However the aircon did not cool properly, he says it just needs "compressing" (FYI: I dont know huge deal about cars- but followed a list provided by Chris W in the forum(thanks)). The owner says it'll cost around £60.. is this right?

POST 2Original post

Sounds just like mine  My AC doesn't cool properly either. I will def get it looked at in due course but it's not something that i'm overly bothered about. When its hot........Roof down !! 8) 8) :thumb: Good luck with the purchase!

POST 3Original post

It's unlikely to be a simple fix like a re-gas. More likely there is a leak, which will be more expensive. It is very common for the condensers at the front to rot from an accumulation of debris. It costs around £4-500 (IIRC) to replace the rads and re-gas. Shouldn't be a deal breaker, but factor it into the price.

POST 5Original post

defo a common problem and in question of sale of vehicle, if it has it it should work really. be wary though if they say they will regas the system for you because it will last for a couple of weeks if your lucky then back to no aircon at all. as rich h states it is a common problem with the front condensors (changed 6 last week) and can cost you up to £500 depending on where its done

POST 6Original post

I have a quote from Alpinair who are apparently very highly recommended (and the owner has a 930 Turbo) for £750 for 2 condensers and some pipes etc as I have a leak Porsche OPC West London qquoted £400 for the same bits and labour!! If its a simple re-gas, get him to take it to quikfit and they will do it for £50, if not much better you know its a leak!
