Also had to figure out the wiring for the rear spoiler myself (disable the factory wing) no one at CEC has ever installed the wing so they didn't know.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

finished installing the techart wing on the cayman last night. I have the same issues as Statix, one side is 2 finger spaces away from the fender and the other is 1. I took pics and will post them tonight. Another issue is the hatch wont hold up, they are not including stronger shocks for a$4,500 wing. Also had to figure out the wiring for the rear spoiler myself (disable the factory wing) no one at CEC has ever installed the wing so they didn't know. Called CEC spoke to Albert, guy who sold it to me, He basically said not all of the wings are perfect and thats what you get. There is nothing CEC and Techart is doing to replace the ones that come out that way. It seems that when they are molded they get warped or something. The kit should include stronger shocks, when I purchased it I was told there is no drilling required "They bolt where the factory wing is" If there are some that are warped CEC should replace them and keep in mind they come raw out of the mold so they need alot of work before painting. CEC is helping me out, having trouble contacting techart directly.
Let me see if I can get you some assistance since CEC is coming on-board as a sponsor. Please PM me your phone # and either I or someone from CEC will be in touch.
IMHO...
And we continue to look at purchasing Techart's product because?? It's pretty silly for a manufacturer/dealer to say that not all their products are "perfect and thats what you get". Did they tell you this before you ordered it? My guess is not. I don't know why we as consumers let companies get away with this. :argue:
Hey Porsches4ed, sorry to hear about the mess they left you in. Hopefully K-Man can help get things moving in the right direction.
On another note, IMHO...

2 out of 2 techart wing is bad now...
i wonder if anybody did get the perfect wing..
PS: don't worry... ken will always help his forum member!! Long Live KEN!!!
CEC is hooking it up
Just got a call from Albert at CEC they are working on the hatch strut issue, looks like the 996/997 had the same problem with the factory GT2/GT3 double wing. When I get home I have to check something on the hatch.
porsches4ed,
You will have a PM momentarily with some info and a contact person at CEC.
The long and short of it is that CEC is the importer for Techart. ALL of the current batch of Techart GT Sport wings have this problem. CEC is now examining the first wing reported to be a problem Statix's, and are trying to determine a fix for the problem. Once a fix has been determined CEC will take appropriate action to satisfy their customers. Buyers of this wing probably need to be a little patient because it may take CEC a little time to figure out just what is wrong and how best to correct it.
Wow,
I am having my Techart GTS bumper and side skirts installed now. Everything looks high quality and lines up great.
I held off on the wing and am glad I did. I will upload pics on Friday.
My CS is Speed Yellow.
Mine is done now...
I just put the GT badge on and the CF caps.

You know you can upload photos to your own gallery here and then put them into messages in the forum right? If not ask me how and I can help you, not sure why you are hosting Cayman photos on an Audi site.
techart wing update...
I just got off the phone with Lanoue at Techart Germany, They are doing everything they can to fix the problem and they apoligize the wing does not meet Techart Quality. Guy was super nice. They are also aware of the shock problem, and are going to fix that as well.
The wing does look Sweeeeet!!!
Thanks K-MAN S!!!
I'm afraid to say that product appears to be a big piece of horse crap. And for how much....$4500???
I wouldn't pay more than $500 for it fullstop.
And for them to say "That's the way it is and thats what you get..." to you before Ken got involved seems very shady to me....
I don't see Techart ever getting any of my money and I was going to invest in some Formula GTS wheels. I will look elsewhere.
looks like the solution for the hatch to stay up...
Got a call from Stabilus they gave me the part# for a stronger shock that is a direct replacement. They make the factory shocks. Our shocks each hold up 123lbs. the stronger ones hold up 155.12lbs. They can be purchased at any PEP BOYS nationwide. Part#SG204031 they cost $34.99 each. with tax the total is $73.48. I already purchased them and am going to put them on this evening. Techart should include these in the kit. I will hopefully get some kind of refund from CEC or Techart. See one problem solved! Now if we can just get that wing to sit right. If I drill the holes 13mm higher on one side I know that will take care of the problem. I have to put a level on the wing t make sure it is sitting straight.
Silent Will, when I spoke to CEC I was told that they never said the above statement. I'm not going to get into who said what to whom and when because I wasn't on any of those calls. When I called CEC they were already aware of the problem and working on a resolution. Remember CEC is an importer, they don't make the product and it was a new product so no way CEC was going to know it would have this alignment problem. I had already spoken to CEC previously after the first wing (Statix's) had a problem and they've always been very responsive on the phone to me.
I have also offered that for future TechART products if they want to do product testing in the US on a car let me know and I might be able to accomodate them. Had that been done for this wing before being sold then this problem might not have come up because it would have been addressed ahead of time.
When you source things from Europe sometimes these things happen and it takes more than the first try to get it right (witness 9ff kit).
I was told that by CEC...(kinda long)
I asked if anything was gonna be done about the wing being uneven, I was told "that was they way some are , not all are perfect, thats what you get."
Then I said "what If I had a GT3 and had a wing that was uneven all you guys can tell me is thats what I get and thats they way it is. Not on a car thats over100K. that is not acceptable for a porsche. I had a GTR wing for a Supra from wingswest that cost $350 and it fit perfect, This is a $4000 wing we are talking about."<that was my upset reply
. I was also told it was a "direct replacement, no drilling required" I understand it is a new product I know humans make mistakes. We are not Gods. I am planning on buying the rest of the kit from them and the techart springs. Stuff happens. They know the truth and what they told me. I am not upset at CEC, they are trying to fix the problem and I appreciate it. Some people like big wings, APR vs. AWE vs. EVOMS vs. GIAC. :argue: Because you dont like Techarts stuff vs. RUF or whatever doesn't mean TechART is trash, I got a defective wing it happens. I also got a car that said it was in excellent condition no paint imperfections, it has a razor sharp scratch on the pillar and a dent on the rear panel. Jim Ellis is in the process of working that out with me. We are breathing and own Porsches, life is good:banana:
I do have to ask that if someone told you that there was no drilling required did you believe them? Just looking at that wing how did you think it attached if no drilling was required? Glue? Duct Tape?
I'm not trying to be a smart-***, but I don't see how it could attach without drilling. Did they provide you with the install instructions? I've looked at the instructions and they clearly show drilling is involved.
I was told...
You take off the factory wing and it bolts on. I purchased and recieved the wing before I had the car, so I had no Idea how the factory wing was on there. Thats what I was told.
The factory wing weighs what 8oz's? and true is held in place by two bolts. This thing weighs what 20lbs? Those same two small bolts aren't going to hold it down, if not for the weight, the leverage of air hitting that high wing and the force traveling down a long lever arm to the mounting point would surely rip 2 small bolts free. It is a shame that you didn't get a copy of the install instructions before ordering or ahead of time, again those clearly show the drilling involved. Drilling isn't a "bad" thing per se, but if you want to take it off you'll have to do something about the holes. I was also told that if you crank the hatch open to its highest opening point (not the normal opening point everyone opens to) that the hatch will stay up because the wing is pitched so far over the roof at that point. Now a lot of people might not have garages that allow them to open the hatch fully to that point though, and if you didn't have a car yet you might not have known that the hatch even opens to 2 different settings, although that has been covered here in the past it isn't a "frequent" conversation item. Obviously you took some risks in investing in this item without yet having a car and without this item having been proven by other installs first and unfortunately the risk didn't turn out as planned initially, but hopefully they will find a way to make it right. Did you determine what it was that is causing one side to be 13mm higher than the other?
I think its the mounting holes on the top part of the wing
there are 2 metal points where they meet the 2 legs that hold it up.
Or if you look at this pic you can see it looks like the right side is just longer (could be the angle of the pic)
I believe Bumper Plugs the site sponsor have them.
But I see you are in the UK so it may be easier (without horribly expensive shipping & European Union import duty from the USA) to get them from:
design911.co.uk or type911.co.uk who have them (not in the different colours that Bumper Plugs has) as Porsche stock items........
Cheers Karel :burnout:
