Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car stays outside and the black plastic trim at base of the windscreen (including around the wipers), also the plastic trim holding the door mirrors, has badly faded. Is there a way to get them back to black?

POST 2Original post

hi, Autoglym vinyl and rubber care works a treat, lasts well and you can use it on tyres / rubber seals / around radiator plastics etc. Avoid getting it on the screen & wipers though! brumbrum

POST 3Original post

I have used Black liquid leather dye (for old leather sofas etc) You will be gob-smacked how good it works. Cost - £2.98 From the shoe repairer in town

POST 5Original post

I had exactly the same thing with the plastic trim on mine. I read a lot about Forever Black Bumper and Trim which is a black dye for plastics. Got some off ebay and couldn't believe how well it worked. Totally recommended very highly, really easy to use. Still looks like new months later. http://www.foreverblack.com/products.html

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the responses. Forever Black looks good but dealers are all listed in US and I don't do ebay. The UV stuff looks like preventative rather than a cure. So it's down to Timpsons - I can do me Dockers whilst I am on as me cherry red 18 holers are looking a bit dated and politically incorrect. Cheers!

POST 7Original post

If your seats, door cards and steering wheel are Black use it on them aswel. When it dries it really does look as new.

POST 8Original post

Sorry I should have put a UK link. Most detailing specialists sell Forever Black and you can ring up and pay with your card over the phone. http://www.performancemotorcare.com...im_Cleaner___Reconditioner_Dye_Kit__1287.html Performance Motorcare Products Ltd Post Office Cottages The Square Elford B79 9DB Tel: +44 (0)[phone removed] Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I went to Timpsons in town but they were fresh out of black dye so I went to Halfords and plumbed for Autoglym Bumper Care. I have just applied the stuff and I now have black trim instead of Citroen "Trim du Soleil". Now for some Solvol for the tail pipes. Have I become a 'detailer'??

POST 10Original post

You're officially a detailer when you've fiddled with your back end.

POST 11Original post

Damn it, I used T-Cut on my tail pipes. I have much to learn.........
