Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, First post, great site. Extremely informative and loads of information gained on prospective future purchase. Grateful for some advice to point me in the right direction (having used the search facility and not found what I was after). Is there an online way of finding out the full spec and factory options for a 996 from the regisration number alone? Appreciate that a dealer could probably do this very easily from the Porsche UK database, but doing it online whilst searching for a 911 would be an advantage. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

If you could let me have the VIN number I can look up the build codes. I can't do it from the reg number, I'm afraid, but a dealer probably could.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I do not have the VIN number of any of the cars I am looking at. I suspect some sellers would be wary of giving out that level of detail. It surprises me though the number of poor adverts which clearly do not list the full spec and options. The car I am particularly interested in at the moment is at a specialist sports car trader, the detail on the ad is not great. He is calling back this PM and I will ask for the VIN.

POST 4Original post

and if you give me the reg number I can give Richard the VIN number If it helps, you can get the VIN off any car 1998 onward through a little window cut-out on the lower passenger side of the windscreen. Should be something like WP0ZZZ***********

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, PM sent. I actually have not seen this car in the flesh yet.

POST 6Original post

I will make a call and see if I can get the info straight away.

POST 8Original post

Done. Good luck, hope shes the one so you can join the mob!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
