Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use car buyers never cease' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'c4s or a newer c2' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean car' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
I've never even contemplated buying the same car again, but this time I think it will be another 911, probably a C4S or a newer C2.

I left it well alone & paid more for a 2 owner 'straight' clean car.

Suggestion
Then another guy got upset when I wouldn't sell him my car for £12,300 because thats what the current bid was on ebay (with a week still left to run).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I saw it in day light and test drove the car.
Over the phone The dealer was well dodgy, told me there was a few minor scuffs (more like deep scratches and dents) the rear tail light had minor cracks, the electric seat button was broken, the hard top had deep scratches. The Engine oil tube/pipe was disjointed (covered with black tape)
and he told me there were about 6 previous owners (kept it vague).. but it had 8. Also told me the MOT was till May 2010, but it transpires to be December 09 and had just service stamps and NO documents. Well disappointed with the car and the dealer/trader.
it drove well though.
I saw another one though, Manual, Silver wit GT alloys and PSM( I prefer manual nowI think), late V reg 1999, 66K miles, drives fab, tyres are at 30% i'd say. everything felt and looked great... But 6 owners (not that its a Huge issue) However had the service stamps, but no additional documents.(last service 6 months ago)...If only the price reflected that...£16750.
based on the fact that there was one sold for £16250 few months ago V reg 2000, had lower mileage (55K with a recent service and MOT) 2 previous owner, PSM and lots of optional extras and heaps of receipts/documents. If only my finances were ready then!!!
Dont get to paranoid about invoices, so few owners keep them, especially when the car is newer and i know some dealers who throw them all away when they buy the car!!
Phone the desler who stamped the book to confirm they're genuine, ask them what work was done,
and regarding prices
its not what you pay for the car but what you'll spend in the 1st 6 months to get it right,
think brake discs, radiators, air con condensoers, tyres, suspension arms,
So Pre Purchase Inspection is vital
If you are talking about my car, bear in mind a few reasons why it sold so cheap given its condition:
1) I wanted a quick sale
2) the used market was just turning from 'ridiculously weak' to 'pretty weak', and I based my pricing on the former
3) The first guy who saw it snapped it up at the asking price and 2 other people offered to transfer me a deposit and pay c.£500 more if I would break the deal
If I was selling today, I'm guessing I would take £17,250 for it.
I even had some joker text me last night, months after it sold, saying "would you take £14k cash for it". Used car buyers never cease to amaze me. 95% of them are complete c*cks who dont bother to ask themselves "what is this car actually worth to me". I was lucky to find a sensible buyer and both of us ended up happy.
That reminds me of when I sold my C4 at the start of the year. I had it advertised at £15,995 and got an email from a guy asking if he could make a 'cheeky' offer of take ten grand cash for it that weekend. I told him that cheeky was not the word for it, and he got upset and all ar5ey?!!
Then another guy got upset when I wouldn't sell him my car for £12,300 because thats what the current bid was on ebay (with a week still left to run). Mind you he did ask if he would have problems with the speed bumps on his council estate (no joke!). Takes all sorts I guess, just don't bring crazy my way!!
I know what you all mean. I'm a complete petrol head and don't normally keep a car more than 3 to 4 months (although I'm hoping to keep the 911 for at least 6 months). It seems no matter what price you put the car up for you always get some joker phone up and offer at least 2 grand less, always ending with - I'll give you cash now. Am I so desperate to get cash today that I'm willing to throw away 2 grand rather than wait a couple of days for a cheque to clear or funds to transfer to my account?? How can they offer me cash without even seeing the car?
For a bit of fun I actually said yes to one bloke who phoned me with a rediculous ofer and "cash today", and he then said, "I'll get back to you", and never did. What are these people on???? :?
And some people wonder why a car has had more than a couple of owners. (I'm not knocking you, by the way).
I hope you'll find that the 996 will still put a smile on your face every time you drive it, even after 6 months. It might sway you to keep it longer.
Believe me, the 996 puts a smile on my face every time, but after a while I just get the buying bug and off I go. I've never even contemplated buying the same car again, but this time I think it will be another 911, probably a C4S or a newer C2. :thumb:

That sounds just like one I went to look at, was it near Keighley?
If it was I have to agree, it drove well, but was a complete dog to look at. I reckon it's had a hard life.
I left it well alone & paid more for a 2 owner 'straight' clean car.
Well happy now
Yes Keighley
Yes Martud it was in Keighley, the trader couldnt care less... and made me drive 100's of miles to see it... if he'd answered my questions properly and honestly, I wouldnt have wasted time
