They plan to replace my 3 keys on Friday - It is a pain in an expensive car to loose so much time on such a frivolous nonsense.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I was at my Local Porsche Dealer in Guildford Surrey (UK) today and saw a newish Cayman S having an exhaust change....... I asked and was told it was having the 'Sports Exhaust' fitted. The Service manager said it gave no more performance - but sounded more potent above 3,000 revs as it opened a valve into a sound chamber..... They also have to retro-fit a switch to turn it off - for example (as explained)when you are dropping your lover off at their home late at night or early in the morning and do not want to wake their spouse, neighbours etc...! So it was released this week - I am afraid I cannot see the point of it (My full Milltek comes next week) however some may fancy it. Why was I at the dealers? - Key #1 stopped working - took it in for a 10 minute reset 1) Primary key reset : open car, put key in ignition switch before 10 seconds is up - turn until all lights on the dash are lit and press and hold front button until the led on the lock button in the centre of the dash lights continuously... Sorry this did not work......... 2) Secondary Key reset: With PWIS system - 20 minute cycle.... Sorry this did not work....... Key non functional (even theough it 'lights up' when you press the buttons) 3) Answer: Need to replace the whole set of keys - Key#1, key#2 and the plastic key thingy they give you By the way learned that when your key goes down like this, you can still use it manually as long as you get it into the ignition and turn it within 10 seconds of opening the door. This will disable the immobiliser and allow you to start the car without the alarm going off either. They plan to replace my 3 keys on Friday - It is a pain in an expensive car to loose so much time on such a frivolous nonsense. Cheers Karel :burnout:
