I just got my new brakepads and all other needed material to change the pads....checked the old pads, before taking off the wheels and they all look fine to me.....more than 2.5mm left......am I missing something??

So I will keep on checking the pads myself...already bought new brake pads with all other parts needed......I guess Porsche wants us the be on the safe side and change brakepads earlier than needed!

Nope Went off all the time on my 928. Take the connectors a part and clean with electrical cleaner. Usually that will do it.

Your sensor connections are wet or dirty. Same thing just happened to mine . Remove the wheels and clean them like Steven said. make sure there is no way to get water in the connections like cracked rubber. If there is wrap connections with e-tape....

I don't have sensors on either of my 996's. They are ziptied out of the way. **As long as you check your pads often enough**

That happened to me once. One of the sensors came out and needed to be re-installed.

Thanks for the help...as always this forum rocks!!!! the sensors worked well since I got my P about 14K miles ago..and my mechanic told me when did an oil change that I had about 3K to 5K miles left on my brakes (this was about 1500 miles ago). So I will keep on checking the pads myself...already bought new brake pads with all other parts needed......I guess Porsche wants us the be on the safe side and change brakepads earlier than needed! Brake pedal really BLOWS at that thickness as does the stopping power. I have usually changed them by that point to have that better bite.

I'd just replace them. If you aren't using the car on the track, this doesn't come up very often. If you are, you do NOT want to drive a DE on 2.5mm of pads!
