Anybody out there put a safetycage into their Cayman? Any pictures from a car with this or factory selling this?
I am also going to replace my adaptive sportseat with som Recaro racingseats.
I also like to put in 4 or 5 points harnesses into the car.
Yesterday I picked up my new set with Pilot Sport Cup tires, so I can hardly wait for the spring.
Any experience with some of the above would be nice to here about.
Regards
Nils (in snowy Norway)
Sleepless had a custom roll cage made for his car - and last I heard was selling it in the classifieds section. AFAIK, there's only custom fabricated solutions right now - nothing from the factory... search around the competition forum, and you should find pictures of sleepless' set up.

Cage, etc.--
There is a nice 1/2 cage for the car made by a company in California, but the units require individual fitment to each car. I bought one slightly used from a fellow Cayman Club member and the labor expense to make it fit in my car (one leg was 1/8-in. shorter than the other, etc.) was so much that it would have been cheaper to have a fully custom bar made by a local fabricator. Full race seats for a dual-use Cayman would be a bit impractical and would restrict your movement and rear vision -- try the 996 GT3 Clubsport seats first. My favorite all-out race seat is the OMP carbon-fiber seat found in the 997 Cup cars.
Michelin Pilot Sport Cups -- Hmmmn, I love them when they're new, I hate them after a few days because they get progresively harder and they are very expensive to replace. Try the Toyo RA-1s if they're available, more economical and they'll last a lot longer. Tires are very subjective, that's just my opinion.
I don't know of anyone that's put in a full cage, but there are a couple people that have done roll bars.
Here's a link to some pictures of one:

I don't know what the rules are in Norway, but it looks like the PCA is going to disallow four-point harnesses.
Thank you for a very quick response all of you. It seems like I have to make this cage myself. After some time I found the rules about materialdimension and strength when it comes to safetycages here in Norway. Also thank you for the pictures of the 1/2 cage. For me it looks like the tube on the backside of the seat will stop me from sliding the seat to back. I have long legs so I need the space.
I might try those Toyo tires later. RA -1s, are the similar to the 888?
When it comes to the Cup tires I won them in autoslalom so I have to use them first.
Any idea how much the GT3 clubsportseats cost in the USA? I might put in some Recaro Pole Position, they not very expensive and also comfortable for everyday use.
Your Qs--
Hi Nils:
The Toyo 888 tire is apparently the successor to the RA-1 (and it is not yet available in the U.S.), so you might want to give it a try. Toyos are generally about 1-2 seconds per lap slower than MPSCs.
GT3 Clubsport seats are about $1,300 each in the U.S. The seat (made by Recaro) comes with seat rails attached and is a direct bolt-in. The Recaro SPG or Pole Position seat is an alternative and can be obtained in leather.
Have fun,
Lee
I'm working with Suncoast Porsche right now to get a set of GT3 seats in my Cayman S. Can't wait!
Hello!
I have some friends in the Porsche Club which used the Toyo 888 tires for a while and they have very good experience with them.
When it comes to my Sport Cup (18") tires I will only use them for track days. For everyday use I use Pilot Sport on 19" wheels, and I have to say that those tire are very good as well, the only pity is that most of them is gone because of trackdaymeetings.
When it comes to racing seats I prefer fabric instead of leather. After a few laps it get very "sticky" in leather. Think I will go for the Pole Position (have some contacts so I get a good offer on them) Is 1300$ for the GT3 chairs with fabric?
Looking forward to see some pictures from your new "GT3" interior DRVREG
