We use a Britax seat purchased from Halfords, it was the smallest seat I could find and I have removed the seat base and back as it lives permanently in the car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Howdy all, Just taken the plunge and put a deposit on a rather nice facelift 996 and take delivery on Friday. I cant wait and cant quite believe it either. Now! I need a seat for my 2 year old and would like to know what the various and possible solutions are out there. Anyone who has experience of this issue I would very grateful to here from you. Thanks in advance, Steve

POST 4Original post

Child seat GD's link to the thread is most informative - just wish I'd read it last year. My 2 year old sits in the front on the Porsche Child seat, my 5 year old has been 'promoted' to the back, with no booster, as the seat is sculpted in such a way that she is totally secure in there. I had the airbag deactivated up front, just to be sure. If the 5 year old and I are travelling alone, I just utilise the 'booster' part of the Porsche seat for her. Hope that helps? The problem I had with non-Porsche seats, was that the majority of them look hideous. Don't get me wrong, the Porsche seat does not belong in the Tate Modern either, but at least it's Porsche...

I've just put a Mamas and Papas Pro-tec in mine and it fits like a charm. Looks great in black as well with the black leather. http://www.mamasandpapas.com/product-protec-group-1-car-seat/2447253/type-i/ Cheers, Phil

POST 6Original post

I think ours is the Pro-tec too. It doesn't quite sit flat on the seat (even with the seat base removed but it is held in quite firmly and the wee man seems comfy in there.

POST 7Original post

Ditto Protec - fits in the back of the cab nicely. Although now he's 4 I need to think about a booster instead.

POST 8Original post

I found most booster seats were too wide at the back to fit in the rear seats of my Cab. The only 'off the shelf' type that I found to fit is, thankfully, Halfords own basic booster made of polystyrene with an elasticated fabric cover for £5.

POST 9Original post

We use a Britax seat purchased from Halfords, it was the smallest seat I could find and I have removed the seat base and back as it lives permanently in the car. The seatbelt clasp isn't in the ideal position for easy removal and replacement anyway.

POST 10Original post

Hello, any tips for removing the seat back and base? Cheers

POST 11Original post

The base is only valcro'd down and the back rest is bolted to the hinges, quite straight forward when you look. ISO-FIX child seats are the best but the fittings in the car only became standard from 2006. However the 996 being German it may have the option in your model. Here is a good read before you buy: http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/porsche_carseats.html I would look at the Recaro range, they are the best IMO See here: http://www.recaro.com/index.php?id=525&region=1&L=2

POST 12Original post

Had a look for you at lunch time, the rear back rests come out as a whole assy. Either side there is a spline - drive screw (looks like M8 / M10 spline) under the obvious plastic hinge covers. In the middle under the centre bit of plastic there is a 4mm allen key screw. Once these three are out you are away. Make sure you have both your front seats as far forward as possible, the backs on them are made out of cheese... they scratch so easy.
