Anyone had the TPMS glitch? Yesterday it thought that I had switched tires. After looking closer I noticed that it confused the left front for the left rear. Reason I figured this was that the tire pressure was 32RF 39RR and 39LF 32LR.
Normally its 32 front and 39 rear
Thanks

Try going into the OBC and letting the system re-learn (car must be moving and make take several miles to re-learn). If it does not then there probably is a bad receiving unit that will require warranty replacement.
TPMS Glitch v2
I changed out my factory tires for winter tires using Tire Rack and local installer. Long story made somewhat shorter: the installer could never get TPMS warning lights to go out even though the TPMS was reading properly. When I switched back to summer tires, warning lights were still on. The installer indicated that his TPMS software was probably not up to date and that only Porsche could fix this. The dealership charged $60 to reset.
So am I doomed to run to dealer every time I change tires?
Seems like Porsche may be great with mechanical engines, but they stink when it comes to electronics. I only have 1400 miles on mine, and the TPMS sensor is telling me my left rear is -6, checked it with 2 other pressure monitors, and it's just fine. Driving it for 60miles didn't help reset it, guess I'll have to bring it in to the dealership ...sigh.... hopefully, not again, again, and again.
You'd think for $60000........................(y'all can fill in what you'd like)
Maybe we should tell Porsche to read what is in the Cayman Complaints forum so they can make a better car. (And fix ours, of course!)
Your dealer cheated you. You have to change TPMS settings when you switch wheels and tires (summer or winter) to get the system to reset itself and then reacquire new values from the sensors. The only other reset is to disconnect and reconnect the battery, it forces a sensor relearn but will still show up wrong if the right wheel size and tire type isn't connected. Then once it's in re-learn mode, you just drive around for about 30 minutes to send the error away and bring the values up.
Until you do the relearn your add-air errors and wrong tpms values will be persist.
Also avoid metal valve stem caps when getting new tires. Some shops will put those on and the manual says to not use them.
