I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing this problem. When I start the car up and push "MAX a/c", it does not always come on immediately. Sometimes it will kick on a couple minutes later, and other times it is intermitant. I think I already know that I have to bring my two week old car in for maintenance for this issue, but before I do, has anyone else experienced this problem, or is this something that occurs with our beloved Cayman?
I thank you all in advance for your help.

Hi Jeff - My guess is you wanted to start a new thread, rather than tack your question onto the bottom of something unrelated... so, I moved your post to a new thread into the "complaints" forum...
Anyway - sometimes, depending on conditions, and when the last time the engine was running, there is a delay in the A/C coming on - the system gives the motor a chance to get going a couple of minutes before it will draw on the motor's energy to run the A/C. this also prevents the system fro blowing hot air into the cabin - when it starts up (at least in my experience with the auto climate control) the air is already cool, and will get colder in the next couple of minutes.

Thanks for the feedback. I just broke out my manual and there was some reference to your point about a delay to give the engine proper time to warm up. Thank you for your response, as this forum continues to provide tremendous value to us all.
Have a great week.
Jeff
Pour yourself a glass of wine tonight and sit down and read the manual. I know it's not fashionable to do so, but you'll really learn a lot, and many of your upcoming questions will be answered... then after that take a stroll through the "idiosyncrasies" section of the FAQ...
The Cayman Club - FAQ: Indiosyncrasies
This will answer a lot of questions new owners have about stuff that's not in the manual...

Hey Jeff.....
There are lots of little things that need to happen in order for the A/C to go to max when called upon, but from what I have seen it should not take minutes.....it should take about 30 seconds or less IMO. If your "minutes" truly are minutes,....then I would say it's time for a dealer to have a look. It could be something as simple as low freon or a bad sensor.
It does appear to take minutes at times. Unfortunately my car does not have climate control. I would assume that when called upon, it should fire on immediately. I will take the prior forum members advice and look around the "idiosync" area.
Thank you all.
