Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My question is: When i call my insurance do I insist it goes to a Porkie dealer or do you think Autoglass can replace (given the built in Aerial etc)?/

If you unsure, call your local branch, tell them what your concerns are and ask about the glass and if your not totally happy with what they say phone your insurance co back and tell them, I don't think they can actually insist that you use autoglass but chances are your OPC will be using them anyway.

Phoned the insurance co and they said that Autoglass were their prefered choice BUT if I wasn't happy with what autoglass said I could use the OPC then claim the money back from the insurance co but that I'd have to pay more excess.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After all that cleaning it seems a bloody stone decided it likes my windscreen and hit right at the bottom it has formed an instant chip and Crack of about 7 inches.
So it is going to have to be replaced but hey that is what

is for.

Any advice?

Hi,
I had a similar thing happen a week after I got my new car :-( not quiet as big a crack but too big to be repaired. I phone the OPC who could arrange for it to be done but said to check with
insurance
co. Phoned the insurance co and they said that Autoglass were their prefered choice BUT if I wasn't happy with what autoglass said I could use the OPC then claim the money back from the insurance co but that I'd have to pay more excess.
In the end after discussing it with Auto glass here in Northampton, getting assurance that one of their experienced fitters would do the job, I went with them, they ordered a winscreen from porsche (if you don't ask them to do this you'll get a NON porsche screen) which took a few days but then had the car in to their work shop for about 3 hours, They were very helpful, professional and made a top class job, no problems at all.
I can only go by my own experience with them and it was fine, I'd be happy to use them again
Do a search on here and you'll see Autoglass do not get a good reception, especially from me. They took a massive chunk out of my dash when getting the old glass out and didn't fit the new glass right. All this after me requesting a fitter who knew what they were doing and whilst in at an OPC!... After a few angry phone conversations I had to then make do with no car for another weekend day so they could fix it.
BLOODY MUPPETS, is all I'll say!
I can see this being a pain in the arse. Already started the conversation on OEM glass and how they can't do that.
Also it has to be Autoglass or the
insurance
will only pay 125quid towards it.
Insurance companies have you every which way...bloddy joke in this country :frustrated:
Auto glass will let you have Porsche glass, you just need to insist, I told them that my local porsche dealer said it had to be Porsche glass and they said that was fine and ordered it in, took a few days but it was worth waiting for.
I have had a bad experience with autoglass on our old 4x4 but I have to say I had no trouble with them this time, they needed the car at the depo and dealt with it very well, there were no marks or scratches and there is no extra wind noise or anything.
If you unsure, call your local branch, tell them what your concerns are and ask about the glass and if your not totally happy with what they say phone your insurance co back and tell them, I don't think they can actually insist that you use autoglass but chances are your OPC will be using them anyway. Which is what mine said so at the end of the day they were going to install the glass so why pay extra..
Not sure if this has been of any help but I can only tell you what happened to me
Well job done today by autoglass. As with so many posts on here it clearly comes down to who does the job. if they have pride then a good job gets done. The fella that did it had done them before and new what the task entailed. He left the car clean and the glass where it is supposed to be. he even showed me where a slight botch job had been made on a previosue replacement (pre my ownership)..wonder what else may have been botched :?: (Won't think of that )
So back up and running and she looks as good as ever. So far window is still in so thanks AUTOGLASS
The guy also noted how slippy the car was when he needed to apply a piece of tape....ZAINO nothing sticks to it :thumb:
Autoglass are back out today re fitting it. I was driving with no sun roof down the other day and noticed the wind noise from the fron left and the grinding noise!!! Seems it may well not have been fitted correcty.
We will see. WIll let you knwo the latest outcome.
