Got into my car yesterday to go for a ride... turned on the engine... fastened my seatbelt... then I noticed a continuous beeeeep... I thought that's strange...
I turned downt the radio, and the beep went... so it was coming from the speakers. I looked at the Audio menu and it showed me the CD module was kinda hanging! I tried to eject the CD and it wouldn't do it... Kept saying NO CD. tried many times, nothing...
Turned off the car and back on... tried to eject the damn CD, nothing... everything else on the
PCM
seemed to work (FM Radio, and all other features)... but the CD one kept saying NO CD.
Decided to leave it and check with the dealer later. I got to my destination. Thought I'd give it one last try... I turned off the car, and this time only turned it back on switch 2 (i.e. engine still of).. and surprisingly, the CD ejected!!!... I checked the CD for scratches, it looked cool to me.. tried it in again... it had problems reading it so I ejected it and tried another one.. the other CD worked fine. So I decided the
PCM
was being picky and doesn't like my first CD anymore (even though I've had that CD in there for a long time and it never had any problems with it).
Just thought I'd let you know that if this happens to you, switch off the car and then turn on the egnition (without starting the engine)... it should sort it out... well it worked for me! Strange huh?
Zuksh
it might be the heat in your place that causes this.
whenever i travel at I-5, which is a long road from SF to LA and all the way to SD and it is very hot, my car experienced the same too.
Thanks for posting this info, this exact same thing just happened to me. Had the same CD in car for a month. Turned on the car, music started playing from the MP3 CD-RW (650 MB), then a few seconds later that buzzy whiney beep sound. CD wouldn't respond or eject. Turned car off and back on, no dice. Kind of figured the
PCM
unit may not actually power down until car is off for a while as the car shuts down its electronics in stages over time.
Got home, read your post later and was relieved to see it should eject. Went out now after the car was off for a few hours and it came out. Whew. Looked at CD, and I do see a fairly big radial scratch half way across it - curious how that got there. Oh well in to the trash it goes, off to burn another Iron Maiden disc.
