Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need help trying to understand which tie rod boots I need for an 02 base. It seems that they are dependent on the steering rack number. I called Porsche and was told that the current steering rack # is 996 347 011 But it started with the # 996 347 005 Then has been updated from that to 996 347 006 Then 996 347 007 Then 996 347 010 And is currently 996 347 011 From what I can discern from the catalog, the only difference in steering rack #’s is for right hand or left hand drive. But I may be wrong. It’s time for a suspension refresh and I am not sure what set of boots I need to get. As always, thanks for the help.

POST 2Original post

996-347-191-02 is correct for both sides on a 2002 base Boxster, about $31 each at retail. Tried to post a link to this part in Porsche's parts system, but the site owners blocked the link, so here is the info: Home 2002 Porsche Boxster Steering Gear & Linkage 996-347-191-02 Tie Rod Boot - Porsche (996-347-191-02) Tie Rod Boot - Porsche (996-347-191-02) MSRP: $36.06 Discount: $4.44 (12.30% off) Sale Price: $31.62
