Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After your opinions here: My car is Schwartz Black Metallic (very dark Grey) and currently has Carrera classic 18"s in Silver. I love the look of the wheel but also love the retro look of a Black spoked alloy with Silver edging. I am thinking of doing an expensive refurb on the Carreras on the lines of the Boxster 550 Anniversary wheels.. see here: Only instead of Grey spokes I will be looking to do Black Your thoughts please...

POST 2Original post

So - basically I think you are going to spray the spokes black and leave the rim silver - I like it!! LOJO

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Spot on, precisely like the photo but Met Black spokes.

POST 5Original post

Do it black wheels look great and don't show te brake dust so easily :thumb: TB

POST 6Original post

One word springs to mind Plastic Not my cup of tea Alloy=silver

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have you been drinking? :drink: Plastic alloy = Silver .... Explain yourself man!!!

POST 8Original post

Go for it Lloyd - I like the sound of it. Can you perhaps photoshop it on your car? ~ Maxie

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good idea, may just try photoshopping it. I did have a crazy moment earlier, how does this sound? The car is nearly Black, try and picture it with the wheels in mind, bright Green calipers with Black logos, GT3 buckets with caliper-matching Green 4-point harness and fairly dark tinted glass. Hmm.... chav or cool?

POST 10Original post

All ok except green calipers. For your specific colour scheme, why not go for the silver calipers as fited to the C4 models? I think these would contrast more with the black centre/silver rim wheels. These calipers also have the black logos. ~ Maxie

POST 11Original post

Not a lover of black wheels myself, but each to their own. Does this photo help Lloyd? (Courtesy of Rod Naghar)

POST 12Original post

Lloyd, I think the concept of an alloy wheel was to make it look as near to the natural bear material as is possible hence the careful selection of an alloy colured paint as close to the natural material colour as possible but still providing a protective coating Black and other colours look like cheap tacky covers and PLASTIC LIKE the coloured paint also hides the natural beauty of the select product-alloy, what ever the mix is. The wheel may as well be made for anything if you are going to paint them a dark colour. Hope this fully explains where I am on this.

POST 13Original post

Adey - you're a boring old f*rt - just like me!!!

POST 14Original post

Like the idea Lloyd, go for it 8) Going on the description of your car colour, it should look great. Agree on the caliper colour though. Steer clear of green. Silver would look cool though. To me bright green = GT3 RS :dont know: I'm thinking of doing something very similar on my 18" Sport designs soon. Inner - Black or dark grey. Outer - Left silver Think both colours will contrast nicely with my car - Arctic Silver :thumb:

POST 15Original post

Where do you stand on titanium? Or gunmetal (so called as it looks like colour of the metal used to make, erm, guns!) Just playing devil's avocado (that was an awful colour aswell), personally I like the "whitest" shade of silver on alloys. When the are acid cleaned (or simply new) they look stunning in the light. Even brighter than the diamond cut designs of recent years.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
