I want to replace my matte black 'Carrera' with a shinier finish (not chrome), but all I can find so far is matte silver.

Can a new console for a later year be used instead?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Eric-
I haven't even taken possession of my new-to-me Porsche and I've already heard good things about your company. Poking around your site, I see several items I'm sure to order soon, but I've got a question: How come many of your products don't seem to have photos available on the order page? (Examples: tow hook plug, 996 bumperettes.)
Or maybe I'm just missing them?
Thanks,
CP
CP...go to the GALLERY page for pictures.
Bumperettes pictures galore. Tow plug? Well, it's just not very sexy.

Eric,
What's the deal for those of us with '99 model year cars? I know you told me once that the '99 consoles couldn't be used, because the paint wouldn't stick to it. Can a new console for a later year be used instead? Is the fit identical?
I'm asking because your site says "must be 2000 or later model".
=Carlos=
i also would be interested in the answer to the 99 question.
this guy has them on ebay. don't know much about the quality.

I just joined and haven't had time to do an intro but wanted to jump in here and say Eric's stuff is top notch. So far I've done the Lapis painted upper & lower consoles, rear seat hooks & batwing, Alumalook ignition & hazard surrounds, gauge trim rings, and shifter. Really transforms the interior.
I also added sirius stero, 4 focals, CD delete, and black floor mats but unfortunately Eric doesn't sell this stuff.
Hope this will answer most questions:
The '99 material cannot be bonded to automotive finishes, but the core can be sold on eBay. We will supply the new material console, completely painted for you, but it adds $190 to the cost of the painted unit to do it without a core swap. But again, you could likely get $100 or more on eBay or other classifieds for one in decent condition.
The core swap for most of our items allows us to paint the new parts for you without your car being dismantled for any period of time. We send you the new parts for installation, then you send the old ones back. There is a core deposit required when we ship, and that is fully refunded when your old parts are returned to us.
Door Handles Mick? Silver c-shaped release pulls? Long tubes/lids? Clarify if you can.
Here is mine:

Another satisfied customer... with a long list of other stuff I would like to buy from Eric... saving for additional mods.
Sorry for hijackng the thread, guys, but since Kolshak has elected not to receive PMs, I though I'd sneak this post in.
Kolshak, nice car! Quick question if you don't mind, would you take a close look at your 'Carrera 4' rear emblem and let me know whether the finish is polished stainless steel or matte silver? I want to replace my matte black 'Carrera' with a shinier finish (not chrome), but all I can find so far is matte silver. Your last pic looks to have a shiny finish.
Thanks!
Eric,
OK, I think this implicitly answers my question about fit, but let me be a little **** and ask explicitly: the fit is identical on the 99 console and the post-99 ones, right?
The reason I'm being so picky is that I just got mildly burned on some yellow gauge faces I ordered. Who knew that the '99 tach layout was slightly different from the '01 tach layout? Not me! (but now I do, and so do all of you!)
Anyhow, let me know on that fit question. Also, how do I order this, since the web site doesn't seem geared to this no-core console purchase? Or do I just order it as normal, and simply not return the core, and thus never get a core return credit?

Carlos:
100% perfect fit, no question, exact same console tunnel on all models (996/986). The only difference was the rear hinge was built in plastic on the 99, and the later models were changed to a metal hinge kit. We would confirm your model and year before production, and the core charge would only be issued when we ship. Order online anytime, we'll take it from there.
Charlie: we do emblems in nearly every possible finish known to man. Email me for specifics if you need 'em.

Thanks for pointing out the PM situation. I didn't choose not to recieve them, just haven't set everything up yet. As for the emblem, I'm not sure - I haven't changed it, so it's probably whatever was standard on the MY01 C4. I'll take a closer look and let you know.
We ALWAYS do it right: complete console includes the full tunnel, astray, switch cover AND e-brake surround. Never a shortcut.
Non Smoker is a $69 add, I'll do it for $59. This applies to 996/986 only, no non smoker kit available for 997/987/Cayman.
Thanks.
Come on! Working on a budget here.... first was Center Console, the clear/smoke side markers, then the shift **** in CF, the pedals... next will be the hand brake
Then I have to do the...

well i'm asuming that the shipping price includes the core charge...
Kolshak where did you get the silver/savannah shifter?
and do you mind me asking how much it cost?
thanks
Shalil
That eBay ad shipping of $450 is for a $75 shipping charge (which is already OUTRAGEOUS) and the rest is core charge, refunded to you AFTER they get your old parts back. Yeah right.
Sharp -
I got the shifter from Eric too. I don't recall the price because he put together a package deal when I bought the upper & lower consoles, hazard & iginition surrounds, clear sides, the shifter and some other stuff at the same time.
The shifter wasn't cheap but it made a huge difference.
I figured that you didn't have the console yet, but I had to to get to you first, 'cuz I didn't want Dell to beat me to the punch! I DO have a reputation to uphold, you know!
Nic...you mean the hole cover tabs? Unpainted? Who would want that?
Do you have a painted set yet? If not, email me for specifics and I'll get right on it!
We sell the painted bumperettes complete, with the tab painted too, of course.
Wait, Eric, do you mean the cover tabs come with the painted bumperettes or do I have to supply them? Just noticed my stock bumperettes don't come with cover tabs. Never even looked under there until now.
