Had the same noise coming from the front dash area, couldn't track it down until i read about the windscreen bond, true enough, windscreen had been replaced a few months earlier, changed again and the noise was away, just down to the wrong bonding agent being used.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's a strange one this - there is a tinny rattle coming from behind the drivers dahsboard area, but sounds a bit more distant, i.e. round the steering column area/front bulkhead. It is merely there when the car is cold, but when the car is warmed up thoroughly, it sounds like something is going to fall off and it is driving me mad!! To the point that I can't enjoy driving the car anymore as all I am trying to do is listen for the blooming rattle. Have checked everything under the bonnet around the battery etc and had the driver's side wheel arch liner off and made sure all pipework etc, is secure. The clue has to be in the difference when it is hot, but don't know where else to look. There is also an intermittent knock coming from the engine bay area, had the car in to my indy two weeks ago to have all this sorted. front and rear anti roll bar drop-links were replaced but noises remain and the suspension has all been checked out!! Anyone?Anyone?

Had the same noise coming from the front dash area, couldn't track it down until i read about the windscreen bond, true enough, windscreen had been replaced a few months earlier, changed again and the noise was away, just down to the wrong bonding agent being used. Some peeps on here have had a similar noise and just lubricating it helped i think. Other thing i heard about was the wiring loom squeaking against the bulkhead, just something i read on here i think, no experience to help you further i'm afraid Not got a clue about the back but i'm sure someone will be along shortly to help Hope some of the above is beneficial, may be a million miles away but you never know. Best of luck, we all hate squeaks grrr Andy

POST 3Original post

The both of you should not buy a MK1 GT3 if you don't like the odd rattle - :hand:

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

*update* Just got back from my indy and went for a drive with him. He said he was 'alarmed' at the noises from the front and back, so have it booked in with him in a couple of weeks. Good to know it is not just my paranoia!! I'll let you know what the outcome is..............
