Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had a rear puncture today and having removed the tyre noticed the inner wall between tread and vertical wall of tyre was the shape of a fifty pence piece. The tube was showing in places. The tyres are on the wear markers but I had no idea they were that bad on the insides. I felt quite upset to be driving unkown like this. Is this usual on Porsches ?? I've ordered 285 30 18s. Was 265 35 18s but these looked a bit 'slack' on the rim. The 285s are £215 all in each. Pirelli Rosso. Cheers Dave

POST 2Original post

i had a rear explode on me whilst luckily stationary. I was nearing indicators on outside of tyres. On taking the wheel off, horrified to find i was bald on insides. Just the camber i guess, always check tread right across wheels & inside sidewalls now.

POST 3Original post

what width are your rear wheels ? narrow or width body 911 ?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

...I'm thinking 9J but not sure without looking inside the rims. Sticker under bonnet gives tyre pressures for 285 tyres so they must be an option for these rims. Although 20mm wider then previous they look good and more in keeping with front tyres. Interestingly it now seems to oversteer but I'm thinking the tyres will bed in and get better. My usual roundabout that I go round at 70mph has been reduced to 65mph......for now.

POST 5Original post

had this pointed out to me on my car this week at the OPC in Leeds as i was mulling over a trade in for a 997. Turns out both fronts are worn on the insides , one has a screw in the middle of the tread and my left OS rear is 3/4 worn too! time for 3 new tyres it seems, or a hasty trade in > probably the later for now!
