When I opened the drivers door(from inside the car) there was a loud noise. Now the handle does not go back into position. The handle still opens the door. I'm thinking there is a spring that pulls handle into position and that spring broke. The noise I heard was the spring breaking and shooting off. Anyone else have this or just have more knowledge than I do and can give me the answer? I tried looking at door schematic and was not able to find one that showed a spring. THANKS
The internal latching mechanism
Porsche
uses has a flimsy plastic hold down to keep the spring wound. Yank on the handle too hard and you unwind the spring. Here's the part to fix it. Luckily not too expensive.

You need to buy the latch and the cable because Porsche redesigned the latch and it won't work well with the existing original cable. It will work, but will be a bit sloppy with the new designed latch.
You might want to order some extra door card clips as you might break a few when removing the door card.

Thank you so much. I ordered the part. I did not get notification I had a reply. Thanks again!
Sorry to resurrect this thread from the dead, but I just had this same problem in my 987
boxster
. I ordered the new part from
suncoast
(with the cable). I just finished installing the new spring assembly, and the new cable (what a bitch that was). Everything works, however the window doesn't go down until the door latch is opened. Before you could move the door handle about 1/4" and the window would drop well before the handle could engage the door latch. Here I was thinking going the extra mile to change out the cable would make it trouble free, but yet, nothing is ever easy. Any ideas? Everything went perfect I just don't understand...
Did you ever get the window working correctly? My handle broke yesterday and I just ordered the parts from
Suncoast
. I'm kinda hoping to avoid messing with the new cable - like the guy in the
Suncoast
video. We'll see.
