Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
Probably a faulty microswitch - the one that tells the instrument cluster that the spoiler is up.
Leading evidence: 'microswitch - the one' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'microswitch - the one' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check underside' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

have you checked the underside for any illegal immigrants that may have sneaked in without you looking?

Andy (or anyone else for that matter) is there anyway to test which of the two microswitches is faulty from the symptoms described in my first post?

The spoiler raises properly and can be lowered using the manual switch.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone.
Been getting an error message lately on my 996 TT. When the spoiler is automatically raised above 75 mph the message appears indicating a failure of the spoiler control mechanism.
The spoiler raises properly and can be lowered using the manual switch. So the only problem (fairly minor it has to be said) is that I have to manually lower the spoiler.
Obviously the motor mechanism works fine. Any ideas what is causing this?
Thanks in advance

sorry - obviously i have no idea about fixing your problem :dont know:
Richard, any way to check or even locate it? Or is it a dealer job? Not a particularly annoying problem as I can correct it manually.
Off topic but our ongoing double din issue seems to be a hardware problem after all. The satnav saves things fine and I have constant 12v power supply so it seems to be the radio has a problem as it is not storing settings once power is off. Ill try not to annoy you with it again and thanks once more for all the time and effort you have spent patientlly guiding me!
Andrew
The only way to check it without taking things to pieces is to get it plugged in to a Porsche Tester, which can read the microswitch contact positions. A good indy should be able to help.
Sorry to hear that it still isn't resolved with the satnav, but if it is a faulty unit that explains why "we" have been going round in circles.
Richard, satnav actually fine its the radio/tv that seems to be the problem - but in any event it seems to be beyond human intervention at the moment.
Oddly there was no problem today during some 'spirited' driving. Will keep an eye out.

And what size is that bloody screwhead fitting? Porsche really don't like you doing it yourself do they?
