Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, looking for some help with a CEL Code. Last fall I got a 2010 Cayman S 987.2 with roughly 32k miles. Drove all the way from Miami to WI with no issues, and drove around WI during fall with no issues. Late fall code P0018 showed up. Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 2 Sensor A. I'm pretty handy so replaced both sensors with Bosch Cam Shaft Position Sensors. Drove car a few more times before had to go away for winter. Code was gone. I also also pulled the vario CAM actuator from both sides. Hooked up to a battery and they appeared to be functional. I could hear them click open and closed. Changed spark plugs over winter, coils in good shape. No cracks or tears. Come spring this week started driving the car Monday. No codes with probably 15-20 start and stop cycles through the days. Today throws same code. Seems to run fine, although maybe my butt dyno feels a slight rumble at idle since I'm paranoid about the CEL. I haven't pushed it since CEL so not sure on top range power. But seems normal. Any suggestions on what else to look for? Thanks much

POST 2Original post

Quick update on this in case someone runs into it in the future. Pulled the last sensor related to CAM shaft errors. There are 3 that relate to CAM Shaft (Cam Shaft Position Sensor, Hydraulic Valve Actuator and Hydraulic Actuator) The furthest back one, the CAM Hydraulic Actuator (part porsche 9A1 105 304 04). Moved to bank 1. Code moved from Bank 2 to Bank 1. So, new one on order. Will update if that solves it. Fingers crossed.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for the update, good detective work. I'm surprised at such a failure given the low miles on your car.

POST 4Original post

Yes, good DIY detective work. BTW, I had a Bank 1 Cam Position Sensor failure at about 25,000 miles. Threw a code; got it replaced, no biggie
