Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

THe oil level metre is showing an error the part has been replaced but the error persists, my indie has run out of ideas and beleaves the fault is in the ECU (tip ECU already repaired) but cannot confirm.
Leading evidence: 'Repair )' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check failure' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The indie managed to get the tip control ECU repaired, not have a lot of luck finding anyone to take on main ECU so may need to go down new route

As soon as things get back to normal the cars going back to the Iandie to have the ECU checked out as we swapped the cluster without any effect, if it is traced back to the ECU and can be repaired I will post an update.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The dial binnacle was switched out by the indie but same problem persisted, I have the car home now and drives lovely after the major service, I will pick things up when the world is back to normal and the ECU can be looked at.
Hi All
Some two months ago I made a post regarding the incorrect fitting of a new battery in reverse, the car has been with my indie ever since with numerous new parts fitted and repaired.
We are now at the last hurdle other than radio and amp which are out for repair. THe oil level metre is showing an error the part has been replaced but the error persists, my indie has run out of ideas and beleaves the fault is in the ECU (tip ECU already repaired) but cannot confirm.
Any thoughts as I am pretty much at the end of my patience?
Can you repair an ECU? In my experience if they fail, they get changed out and program reloaded. It's only ever happened once to me on a Vito van. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they can be repaired.
The indie managed to get the tip control ECU repaired, not have a lot of luck finding anyone to take on main ECU so may need to go down new route
Just want to be sure it is the issue before proceeding

Erm .. i may have this wrong but ..
I looked at a diagram .. 2002 .. oil lvl sensor wires go to the instrument cluster , the temp side of it goes to the dme .. this should be seen on a tester.
The dme provides a sensor earth for this sensor along with cam sensors , engine temp etc so i would expect this part to be fine.
A continuity check of the sensor wires to the instrument cluster needs to be done .. on my diagram thats BN/OG and GN/BU .
At work i would also swop the instrument cluster for a spare to rule that out as a new one is fortunes .
Tip Cu dying is something i've seen before so well done getting it repaired .

I have exactly the same problem with the cluster in our Project 2002 C2 Tip Cab.
Oil Level Check Failure. Sensor and wiring test ok.
As DeMOrt says the sensor is wired directly into the cluster. I cannot find anyone who can repair these units. I can live with it as I can check oil manually. But annoying. Also advice as there are a lot of second hand clusters being sold by breakers but many are imported from the US and therefore may not display correct info.
If you find another answer I would be interested, maybe we could get a discount for two!
Cheers

As you say annoying but not the end of the world.
