Looks like its more work, as for the ones currently on mine they feel a bit wooden and ascetically would like something to fill the wheel drums

I did see his thread, it appears he used Cayenne callipers and had some brackets machined?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, i have searched the forum and couldn't find an answer. I am wondering if there is a bolt on upgrade calliper(porsche) without the need for machining or bracket. As far as i can see the C4 can take the turbo or GT3 6 pots?? Is there anything from a 997? cheers Nick

POST 2Original post

i think you need to go brembo big brake kit and similar for bolt on larger calipers. What is wrong with your brakes? Alternative it to put bigger discs with spacers and good pads - which is probably cheaper.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the reply, i was hoping that someone might say different! Looks like its more work, as for the ones currently on mine they feel a bit wooden and ascetically would like something to fill the wheel drums cheers

POST 4Original post

Not as simple as just doing the fronts. Rears have to be done to compensate.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok, would that mean a brembo kit on both ends?? cheers

POST 6Original post

Something like that Mistercorn is your man. If you haver a look through his build/project thread he's done a couple of different big brake variants on it.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Alex, I did see his thread, it appears he used Cayenne callipers and had some brackets machined? He lives very close and at some point im going to pay a visit, when its safe to do so! I was hoping for a half way house really, something i could keep my eye if a pair came up for sale. cheers for the advice

POST 8Original post

You may already know this but the C4S / Turbo /GT had bigger brakes than the C2 and C4. Unfortunately they also have slightly different bolt spacing (150mm compared to 130mm I think?) so as far as I'm aware it's not a simple swap.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i think you are all confirming my research, thanks for the help

POST 10Original post

If its feel and performance you are after, you should get much better results with braided brake lines, good pads and good brake fluid and flush. Keep in mind Porsche brakes are not overassisted so always do need pressure on the pedal - they stop the cars great through.

POST 11Original post

You could repaint your calipers... a colour like red may stand out and look bigger. Agreed though, some new fluid can transform the feel. Nothing wrong with the standard brakes though, unless you want to do lots of track days.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks Gents. Currently has dot 5 fluid in it. Has got newish discs & pads all-round, has got braided hoses. so maybe a better set of pads might make a good difference. just feels a little wooden and my mechanic mentioned that they could do with a bleed as thought there may be air in the system... thanks for the comments
