My TPM system used to work fine while the car was in motion, now, it only works when the car is at standstill. The moment I go to pull away, it blanks out and the message (or similar) comes up: TPM only works while the car is stationary. This is not how it worked before and the manual also states it should work while moving/driving. Any suggestions how to get it working the way it should? Thanks
Are you talking about showing the tire pressures while moving or telling you whether the tire pressure is above or below where it supposed to be?
You can see the tire pressures while driving, but you have to be sitting still in order to see if they are plus or minus the values they should be. That is completely normal and my 2014 981 also gives the same message if I try to check those values while in motion
My previous two 987’s were the same way so it may just be the particular menu you are in when seeing this message
You have the display showing the incorrect option. As stated above, one option is only available when sitting still and shows plus and minus values from the appropriate setting. Another display setting will show you the tire pressures while driving if its set to display that option. You need to cycle through the different setting until you get to the one you desire. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply guys. OK, that makes sense, the static pressure + or - display is working as intended. Coming out from the winter layover, I had forgotten it was two different choices from the OBC display The "Tire Pressure Function" is not in the choices anymore. I do have a Durametric and so I'll have to dust it (and my brain) off to find out what has happened. I will report back.
OK, I finally had a chance to hook up the Durametric and see if anything was amiss. I did find there were numerous fault codes for low voltage (recent battery change) so I cleared all those codes. Then out for a test drive and using the right menu option, I now can see both the static and moving displays. Happy day.
