Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

(It also cautions that the comfort setting should not be used at speeds above 165 mph - really good to know here in the Washington DC area!)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

The door stickers on the 991 Carerra S list cold pressures of 36 front, 44 rear. The owners manual lists 36 front, 44 rear as the "full load" setting and 31 front, 39rear as the "part load" setting. (It also cautions that the comfort setting should not be used at speeds above 165 mph - really good to know here in the Washington DC area!) These recommendations are higher, with larger differences between front and rear than I have seen before (e.g., 19s on my Boxter S). The dealer had set the tires to the comfort setting. (Guess they think I am wus.) But I tried it at the higher settings. The ride comfort seems not at all affected by the higher settings (which seem really high to me) but I haven't yet explored how the handling is affected. I don't plan to do a lot of driving above 165. Any thoughts?

POST 2Original post

Tire pressure is also load dependent. Higher pressures with a lower load will manifest themselves as wear in the center of the tires over time. Higher pressure will improve mpg, well maybe , due to less friction.

POST 3Original post

I would bet that modern tires can be structured to do just what tire engineers desire. They could be engineered to deform upwards in the center when over inflated, or deform upwards in the center due to rotation forces if they were under inflated, or not to deform in the center at all. Did pre 20 inch 911s have the same kinds of pressure recommendations? Do 981s with 20s - with obviously different tire loadings, have such high pressures specified?

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
