Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I did a HPI check, got all the plates that'd been on it, got a new service book, called all the local dealers and ended up with a fully stamped book detailed with every service it'd had.
Leading evidence: 'Check got all the plates' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check got all the plates' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all first post so be gentle.
I am looking to buy a 996,i have been doing my research, and just as the lockdown started, had identified a car to view.
I just wanted a bit of advice really.
The car seemingly has little or no service history, with under 100k on the clock.
However, the owner when he bought it jumped straight in and had RMS,IMS and a bore score report done, along with some suspension stuff and other bits and bobs from a Porsche indy that he has receipts for.
The car ticks a lot of boxes for me and is a little over my budget but i could stretch to it.
Thoughts ?
If it has no service history this should be heavily reflected in the price. If your budget is low your best option is to go for a gen 1 3.4 rather than a gen 2 3.6.
Can you give us some more details on the spec/model/price?
If it's a good car then no reason not to proceed (the recent maintenance is a big plus) but the lack of history will mean it is harder to sell in future so needs to be in the price.
A thought- maybe an OPC can look up the chassis no or previous reg no's to see if they've any records.
I did that with a previous purchase whereby the service book had been lost. I did a HPI check, got all the plates that'd been on it, got a new service book, called all the local dealers and ended up with a fully stamped book detailed with every service it'd had.
To give you an idea on pricing, there was a C4S which sold a couple of weeks ago on 70k miles with no history for £12k. Manual, non-sunroof. Not a sellers market.

Thanks for the replies.
Its a 2003 3.6 Tiptronic, black with black interior, sunroof ,standard as far as i can make out,90k on the clock.
Price £14k
I dont have massive car knowledge but would be getting a PPI and obviously would do HPI check,i have a local Porsche Indy who will do a PPI.
I'd be very wary of a 3.6 tip. These are the most likely to suffer from bore scoring out of all the 996 range. 1. Because it's a 3.6. 2. because its a tip and they are more prone to it due to setting off in 2nd gear and putting high torque load at low revs on the engine.
For that money I'd be buying a lower mileage 3.4.
or fork out another couple of grand and getting a 997.
