Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Undoing the rear part in front of the rear wheel can be hard work, then undoing those clamps is a biatch, then the front end involves removing wheel liner, undoing the petrol filler pipe from the filling point, and then plenty of wiggling and twisting (like one of those little puzzles in a cracker where you've to get the 2 metal bent pars apart) getting the old one out and even harder getting the new one in.

Are these the oil cooler pipes that run from the front of the car to the engine?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

This worked with mine, but 3 months later the pipe split further down the length of it.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After washing my 2004 996 targa, i drove it for essential maintenance to dry the discs!, But following morning, spotted this under the drivers door. felt very oily and as probably only 100-200 miles since service, thought it might be engine oil. I added an attachment (piccy) but have no idea if it will work here goes

POST 2Original post

...first guess...exact position for a leaking air conditioning pipe union ?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

here is another attachment of the wetb pipes under the car, directly above the spillage on the floor, all other areas look dry. There are 2 pipes, 1 thicker than the other, this is the one thats darker in colour (wet) . Are these the oil cooler pipes that run from the front of the car to the engine?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

and the other image i managed to get

POST 5Original post

Agree with GMG... air con pipe leak. No engine oil goes to the front in the water cooled cars.

POST 6Original post

Oil pipes don't run from the front to the back. All the bits that need oil are at the back (yes I know, front diff on a C4 before some pedant chimes in). Will be air con as mentioned.

POST 7Original post

Dip a tissue in it and see what colour it is. Aircon oil will be bright green. I had a leak there on my C2, the fitting was a right pain to undo. MC

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys for your input. So is this bracket also a joint between 2 lengths of pipe? What am I likely to need for a repair please? Cheers Alan

POST 9Original post

Its one full length pipe that becomes perforated one it gets old. Replacing is a pain. There's also the chance you've had your aircon on and the puddle is just condensation thats dripped off your pipe. More here on the pipe (Think I paid about £120 from OPC): http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=62694

POST 10Original post

If the pipe is leaking, the other option is to hacksaw the pipe where the hole is in it and fit a compression fitting. This worked with mine, but 3 months later the pipe split further down the length of it. Mean you can do it in situ without removal of the pipe. Something like this:
