Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone found a aftermarket drivetrain warranty for the Porsche 911. I'm thinking this would reduce the worry about the engine self destructing. I would be willing to pay quite a bit to know that I'm covered.

POST 2Original post

There have been posts on this topic in various forums quite recently. A Google search should turn up the threads. What I found when considering a warranty is that it was hard to find one that would definitely cover IMS issues for a 12 year old car (I have a 2002). The cost of the warranty was also high. I ended up not pursuing it figuring that I would spend the money on preventative maintenance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 3Original post

I have one from "Elite" that cover all internally lubricated parts. I called and specifically asked about the IMS bearing and they claimed it was covered. We shall see if and when that ever happens.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Scott, Thanks for the tip on Elite. Did they cover your 996 Cabriolet?
