Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

There are fine tolerances with the diff and off hand I don't remember how much it should move but there is some movement to it, I have my car in the air at the moment and could measure movement if you want to check the difference?

Suggestion

As for the oil, you don't want a dedicated LSD oil, its too slippery for the gearbox syncro's, you should use a good synthetic transaxle 75w90 oil.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm pulling the engine and box out of my '98 c2 and I've noticed some in and out play on the shafts coming from the diff. The drive shafts have been removed, I mean on the flanges the shafts bolt too. I was checking to see if the lsd still had any bite left as I'm pretty sure it's a dead duck. I noticed that there is a little play, not a huge amount, just enough to notice. Also i have the oil drained out before dropping the whole assembly out though not sure this will make any difference. I have motul 3000 lsd oil there to go in iirc. Any opinions? Also, has anyone found that stickier tyres will take out some of the lack of bite from the diff? As in one wheel won't spin up so easy if the grips better.

An idea of how much play would be great infrasilver. A load of diff/box work atm just isn't in budget but it's always better to know where you stand. It's getting a clutch and postage lightweight flywheel as I have them there but not a sprung clutch plate to suit so possibly just a standard clutch on the dual mass. Loads of other stuff too including 'the brake pipe" that started this whole nightmare to begin with
