I thought that I could beat it by buying the automatic.code changing door openers but that was a couple hundred dollars wasted.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

This is probably not news to the brain trust here, but to an old guy like me this is pretty interesting: How thieves steal cars using vehicle CAN bus It starts with a headlamp and fake smart speaker, and ends in an injection attack and a vanished motor www.theregister.com Art

POST 2Original post

The sort of good news is that our P-cars appear to have a LIN bus instead of a standard CAN bus -- and I'd admire any hacker who figured out how to hack the P-car CAN bus. I'm hoping to eventually learn how to do some LIN bus hacking...would be kind of neat. I have PDK paddle shifters on my GT3 steering wheel...and it would be fun to program them to do up/down music volume. Then again, this may be above my pay grade and I have a lot of other stuff on my plate...LOL!

POST 3Original post

I had a problem with the random opening and closing of my garage doors ten years or so ago. I changed codes a number of times and couldn't stop the aggravation of coming home to open garage doors and stop blocks on the floor being moved so the car would stop under the garage door and have the door lower onto the trunk lid. I thought that I could beat it by buying the automatic.code changing door openers but that was a couple hundred dollars wasted. The doors still moved at will sometime during the day when I was at work or on an errand. Fortunately nothing was stolen or vandalized-just my peace of mind. The local law enforcement just shrugged their shoulders-no one injured or property damaged/stolen so.... get a neighborhood watch organized. My feeling is the tech savy hoods and cyber security people will be going back and forth for a long time to come.
