The PARK light comes on, the break light works, so I assume the last culprit is the switch in the top latch part.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've searched and searched, checked everything, and just seem to have nothing. Press switch and nothing happens. No click noises, no nothing. Fuses seem fine. Over the weekend I plan to manually unlock the latch just to check for broken pieces and what not, but anyone have any ideas?? Im a bit worried though if I unlatch it it either wont latch back or something becomes misaligned et al. There seems to be several fuses associated with the top.. PARK light does come on. The hatch light does turn off, so it seems the microswitches are functioning. Just no top activity.

POST 2Original post

Opening the latch manually will most likely cause the micro-switches to lose timing. Then it's off to the Dealer. You could get a Durametric and investigate things yourself. One job and it will pay for itself. Diagnostic Tool for Porsche | Durametric maybe something here? http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/996-forum/656646-996-convertible-top-not-working-light-just-blinks-2.html

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

really cant figure this out. There appears to be no power to the system as the dash indicator does not light up with the key on. It seems to be it would always light up before (?), but I cant remember. The PARK light comes on, the break light works, so I assume the last culprit is the switch in the top latch part. But if its a microsensor, wouldnt the top warning light be blinking?? anyone have any idea?

POST 4Original post

Have you tried to override the switches? Our host has a nice article on this: Pelican Porsche Tech Article - Convertible Top Mechanism Repair - Porsche 911 Carrera - Porsche 996 Carrera (1998-2005), Porsche 997 Carrera (2005-2008)

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The top could be operated manually, it just has no power at all. Perhaps a visit to the dealer to hook up to the system and see whats happening, but Im a DIYer: i havent admitted defeat in years, and I really want to get this one figure out.

POST 6Original post

Start with the basics, is the switch working in the dash? You just need a multimeter to test it. Do you have power to the motor? But it's likely worth the hour of dealer time to pull the codes for the top.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

switch is good. Im pretty certain since there is no power to the dash light, theres no power getting anywhere else. Yes, dealer trip may be in near future..
