Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Granted this was all pre-sanded stripped in the garage and painted at a dealership collision est my neighbor ran….

Lots of muscle cars and exotics alike have used a similar color for many years.

Suggestion
I assume that's because of a very clean (washdown?) garage and the ventilation you're doing.

With all the wrapping done today I’m surprised to see color change like this
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Took me a while to figure out some issues i was having with the lights but all good now.
I decided to paint my car.. making some hate me and some love me.. I'm ok with that as I'm having fun
here is a link to where I'm at right now with it.
Wild!! Wonderful job you're doing in a garage, and your car will certainly stand out from the crowd of boring grey/silver Porsches...
I'm curious, your paint surface quality looks excellent, in the photos there is no sign of dust or surface imperfections. I assume that's because of a very clean (washdown?) garage and the ventilation you're doing. Are the fans doing positive or negative ventilation? And I assume hazardous materials mask is being worn....
Outstanding job. Dunno that it's what I'd do - but I think you have a vision for the car and are going to achieve it.
It is negative pressure and the surface does have particulates in it after paint but then i wet sand, after clear but then i wet sand and then buff. I still have to give it all a really good buff but I'm waiting till warmer weather so the paint can fully cure and harden.
I do have masks and supplies to do the best that could be expected in a barn. I also after years of painting my own cars with cheap paint guns bought a divillbless paint gun... wow.. its hard to paint bad with a gun like that.
With the mechanical mods, sound mods and cosmetic mods I'm doing/done.. I'm liking it.
I love that neon green color! Lots of muscle cars and exotics alike have used a similar color for many years. Did you ever consider doing a wrap, or were you just looking for a nice paint project from the start?
i did but they will run you $4k+ for a good one around me from what i can see.
This paint job cost me about $350 plus my time. Plus i do enjoy doing it. Iv painted a few porsches for others as well.. just fun
wow that looks like a lot of hard work! good surface prep too.
just curious what colour your went with for your brakes? was it the yellow or in a matching colour combo?
Brakes are staying yellow. I color matched the calipers for my last
Porsche 911
but this one.. I don't have the energy to pull them off right now.
Pics below are of that.
Your disassembly is admirable. My dad traded a favor for my Fiat paint job. He had me strip it clean. When it came back I understood why disassembly is correct. Almost no taping, no oopsie swirls on taillights or
headlights
from sloppy DA work, no overspray on gaskets. Very nice job you're doing, nice winter connection with the car project too, those are always great.
100%. ya taping off just makes for so many fixes needed vs disassembly. Its time consuming to strip a car down but way worth the reward. I'm getting ready to tackle a really cool
BMW
for someone and he's getting some $ knocked off for helping me strip it down lol the painting actually happens relatively quick compared to all the elbow work needed.
Thanks
I did all of that last winter. full exhaust which included beluge racing catback and cat delete equal length race headers, clutch, suspension, IPD plenum and throttle body, Softronics tune(not a fan of theirs), short shift, frt and rr sway Ebauch sway bars, control arm bushing, frt
headlights
and rr tail lights along with the front and rear aftermarket bumpers.
All that and all the money spent... why didn't i get an S 😟 its still to slow.. not complaining as its still an amazing car but i might.. might turbo it.
This is the stuff that makes these threads most worthwhile..the DIY stuff, finding help with weird issues and these awesome projects that we all dream of doing ourselves and seeing someone else DO them. Yeah. can't get enough and can't wait to see the final pics as well!
"Can’t wait to see the finished product! It’s gonna make us green w envy! 😉"
thanks!! I'm really enjoying it.
I can't agree with you more. some get upset with modding our cars.. there just cars and we should all just enjoy them however it makes you smile
Agree … I am slightly modding my Arctic Silver ‘09
Boxster S
… wrapping in gloss black the rear diffusers, the spoiler, the side vents on the rear quarters, the lower mirror caps, and the front vents. Also having the 19” wheels refinished with a combination of black gloss with hyper chrome accents and lightly smoking the rear rails lights. Considering doing a ceramic coating … in terms of whether it’s right or not to mod a car, I can argue myself to sleep on that point … but my creative side always wins … I always mod a little. Have since my first 1969 beetle, but that’s a story for another time!
(before pics below)
Mods are great when done right. And they are awful when shortcuts are taken or the mod product is cheap. Compared to most cars that get modded,
Porsche
’s are done tastefully and to a high standard.
Looks great! I colored changed an MR2 and and an RX-7…. Never again!!! It’s a monumental amount of work…. Granted this was all pre-sanded stripped in the garage and painted at a dealership collision est my neighbor ran…. Huge saving and both turned out amazing…. Anyway my hat goes off to you. With all the wrapping done today I’m surprised to see color change like this
thank you. Its been a fun project but taking longer then i want.. to many fires to put out in life lol
I finally was able to get the fender and hood buffed.
forgot .. i also had my front door speakers come in.
Just finished a little work on my ‘09 BS … wheels refinished in gloss black over body color match, tinted tail lights, painted vents, wrapped spoiler … overall petty happy w how it turned out!
Front bumper is on now. Took me a while to figure out some issues i was having with the lights but all good now.
Also made some mounts for the front door speakers. Should be pretty loud.
basically done with this project.
I have a new IPD plenum kit and GT3 throttle body for sale if anyone is interested. I put them on for one week and pulled them back off. I didn't like the change. $800 for the whole kit, shipped from 48446 is someone needs them shipped.
