Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If the one behind the alternator fails you'll be replacing the alternator too.
Leading evidence: 'Replace alternator too' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). In fact when Porsche made the last GT2RS, they chose not to use their latest DFI Turbo engine and instead went back to the GT1 Mezger motor.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's a 2007 997TT with 105K Km. Here is the Durametric engine module reading:
Range 1: 7300-7500 RPM
Range 2: 7500-7700
Range 3: 7700-7900
Range 4: 7900-8400
Range 5: 8400-9500
Range 6: 9500-11000
To me this shows that the previous owner seriously over revved the engine on many occasions with the highest being 273 ignitions at between 8400-9500 RPM which is well above the redline...7400 RPM I believe for a 997TT. How tough are these engines? Has this TT been abused?
What does the Pelican brain trust say?

The 997 TT motor is one of the best engines Porsche has ever made. Its the original GT1 Mezger engine with newer modifications. Those revs wont hurt a thing. 276 ignitions is a blink of the eye. Thats rev limiter territory not downshift over-rev territory. The only weak link on that motor is the coolant connector bungs that are inserted into the engine case and glued in with some sort of red loctite. Over time that red loctite wears out and it will spit out the connector bung that the rubber coolant hoses are connected to, then dumping all of your coolant in and instant. Not good if you're in the middle of a fast corner. I cant remember how many of those there are, I think 6 or 7. If the one behind the alternator fails you'll be replacing the alternator too. The fix is to buy new bungs and have them welded or pinned into place, I preferred welded but you need a good weld job and they need to make sure there is no pin holes in their welds. This is also happening on the GT3's which have the same engine. I've seen stock mezger engined cars with well over 300,000 miles on them. Its a great motor and very robust. In fact when Porsche made the last GT2RS, they chose not to use their latest DFI Turbo engine and instead went back to the GT1 Mezger motor. Their race teams I believe are still using that same block and haven't switched over yet to the newer 9A1 version.
He's bang on. Don't forget that the data shows revs for each piston for each revolution. I agree the weak spot is the coolant feed. I've seen them pop put on track and lay coolant down which is not nice if your behind one! Having it welded is the solution but that ain't cheap but is a lot cheaper than losing the engine or putting the car in the fence.
The turbo's, both 996 and 997's, are worth looking at.
If you are going to track it - remove the antifreeze and run plain dionized water.....
