I remember changing one in a 996 Turbo and using a hooked spanner to remove the wing element, but it was a while back and I can't remember the specifics.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello I would like to find somebody who has replaced the rear wind hydraulic lift assembly in a 2007 997 Turbo. I remember changing one in a 996 Turbo and using a hooked spanner to remove the wing element, but it was a while back and I can't remember the specifics. Really appreciate any help. POST 2Original post

I just replaced one this week. I improvised for removal of the wing using a pliers. I was not worried about damaging the old part. The lifting strut unlocks by turning counter clock wise. On installation of the new lifting mechanism, I made a hook tool to relock the wing. FYI, I ordered the proper tool (about $90 bucks) for the next time. Good luck. I hope this was some what helpful.
